hey there.......i have owned a 400ex that has all kinds of low end and i just got a new 450r yesterday.....and it rocks...but where is the low end?......well i mean it feels like i am starting in second gear......with a **** load more power than the 400ex......
can i gear it, cam, ???
what has worked for everyone??

thats it..........there should be more.......there has gotta be something to do ...........it is a sweet bike, but damn, it has to have alot more low end available....

I was in the same boat as you. Went from a 400 to a 450r. I hated that 1st gear was so freaking tall. But I changed the front sprocket to 13 and went up a tooth in the rear. It is close to a 400 bottom end but it makes up for it up top.

-172 main($5)
-hrc needle ($25)
-hrc end cap ($25)
-cut the snorkle - free
-drill the crank case breather to 5/16 - free
-remove pre marked section on air box lid - free
-adjust idle mix on bottom of carb to 2 3/4 - free
-turn idle up 1/4 turn - free
*******when done you will have 5 more h.p. for $55*******
if you still want more do a 13 tooth front ($12)(leave rear alone)
*****(you will put your 14 back in once you do the cam)*****
-want more buy a "FULL PIPE" ($450-$650)
-want more still, hrc or hot cams stage-2 ($145) install yourself or pay $200 to a shop
you will be veryt happy and reliable for a long time with all these mods!!!!!!!!!!
