View Full Version : 250R cuts out WOT

i just picked up a 250R and the silencer didnt have any packing in it, so i shortened it up, and repacked the silencer, and now it cuts out WOT, it almost seems like its bogging. i can get RPMs up if i rev it slowly, but when i just open it up, it bogs and sputters. ive been messing with the needle clip and the main jet, and nothing seems to work. ive checked the reeds, and the air box, and its all good. i need help, let me know

check your plug color and change it

You probably need to go up a size or two on the main jet if you shortened the silencer. Id leave the clip on the needle alone. Its just trial and error from here. jus do a plug check and that will get you on your way.

im not sure that its jetting. ill keep fiddling with it, im open to any more suggestions.

If the motor and frame have been repainted or powdercoated, then you may be losing ignition ground at high rpm. Buff the paint on the inside of the front motor mounts and where they bolt to the engine and the frame. Also check the frame ground near the CDI box. If that doesn't work, you may have a CDI starting to go out.

Shortening your silencer takes away from your top end and adds more low end.
