Hi, I bought some 88 propegs and am looking at a 86 frame? Can I make these fit?-

06-15-2005, 02:05 PM
86-89 same parts.

yes it will fit.

I'm not so sure. 86-87 pegs are very different then 88-89 pegs. They mount completely different.

Thats what I was thinking? I guess I might have some propegs forsale in the future?

You will need to get the peg adapters for the '86~'87 frame since the '88~'89 pegs mount different. There also might be some issues with the front mounting tabs.

Well guy!.... i got 89 pegs off ebay and they worked on my 86 frame, so either they do work or the guy put the wrong year down.

Ok....

I own an OEM '86 frame and an Arens frame with '88-'89 style peg mounts. My '86 frame came with pro pegs for an '88-'89. The previous owner ordered the correct adapter but hacked off the front support tabs because of fitting issues. I ordered a new set of Pro pegs for my Arens frame because I wanted the new version with kickups and wider pges but I also didn't want to deal with trying to get the '88-'89 adapters.

'86-'87 pegs are connected to the frame by (2) 10mmx40mm bolts while the '88-'89 pegs use a pin and cotter system. The correct adpater is needed to install AC nerfs on a 250R.

In other words... it is not a direct bolt-on item between to the two frame versions.

Well, someone has there info wrong!! Either you have a 89 frame or he sold you 86 pegs!

The fact is TRX250RJapan is 100% correct!!

Well he must have it wrong (the guy i bought them from) i have an 86 frame which is not pin and cotter assembly.

Also 88-89 swingarms would not allow for me to put in the CR500 engine properly as it does not have the gap at the pivot point.

Damn dude!! I guess I will need post some pics so you can see the difference between '86-'87 and '88-'89 frames since everybody else is on the same sheet of paper:rolleyes:

One more time: AC pro peg can be interchanged between the two different frame types BUT the frame specific peg adapters will need to be purchased and sometimes there are fitting problems with the front stabilizing tabs.

'86-'87 pegs are connected to the frame by (2) 10mmx40mm bolts while the '88-'89 pegs use a pin and cotter system.

Dude, im not an idiot, i understand what you said... All i said was i have a 86 frame so the guy must have had the pegs i got listed wrongly on ebay as an 89.

English language seems to be a problem for some people.

The only person who seems to have a problem with comprehension of the english language is Dierwolf. If needed I can also communicate in a different lanuguge for you, DierWolf, but I do not speak your native dialect of drunken-buttmonkey-wasted-on-Crystal Meth:D :macho

hahahaha:blah:

I'm having fun jabbing him because he refuses to admit that his information was not correct. The question of fitment should be resolved now so I guess I no longer have a reason to clutter this thread with useless jabs at Dierwolf.

DierWolf - I was just having a little fun with you bro' so go ahead and jab back but leave the hooking and jabbing in this thread.:chinese:

Japan thanks for straightening that out though lol...

Never said anything bad about you dude, all i said was i am not an idiot and understood what you said.

My english comprehension is just fine... When i said "HE MUST BE WRONG" i was not referring to anyone on the forum i was referring to the person on ebay that sold me the "So Called" 89 pegs which actually turn out to be 86 pegs.

I dont need to admit i am wrong all i needed to do was mention that it must have been false info that made me reply the way i did saying that the 89 will fit the 86, being i never ordered from a store and just took the info from what the guy provided on ebay.

In any case.. just to solve this .. I was wrong when i said it would fit..... (due to incorrect data i recieved) GIGO.

Ok, its final, I am going with an 86 frame.....What do I do with my 89 nerfs now? I found these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4557466943&category=43972&sspagename=WDVW
Is this what I need to mount them to my frame?

TheFontMaster

Nope those mounts are still for the 88/89 frames. Notice there is only one bolt hole for the mount to hook up to the frame. The 86/87's use 2 bolts to mount to the frame.

If I got these and just drilled another hole or welded it on there do you think it would work?>

You might was well build your own from mild steel piping of the correct diameter and a piece of 1/4'" plate instead hacking those adapters.

I had to use my cell phone cam to get this pic but your Nerf Mounts will be piping welded to figures #10 and #18.

I'll snap a pic of the mounts on my old frame tomorrow.

Thanks that helped alot, now I know what we are talking about, I could make my own I guess, Since I have a welder and a pipe bender, I guess it wouldnt be that hard, only thing is it prolly wont be as pretty.

I guess if any one wants to trade let me know..
Japan250r thanks for your help

I have an 86-87 Frame that was modded and gusseted by Mike Walsh. It has tthe pro peg mounts welded to the frame at the front and rear locations.

I should be able to use either the 86-87 style or the 88-89 style nerfs with my frame. Can anyone tell me for positive.

If so... I might be interested in your nerf bars...

Can you tell me what brand.... what condition... and how much you would like for them if you want to sell them.

Thanks,

You would need to make the ones in the first pic. The second bolt is accessed through the adapter pipe.
