Sorry guys, im a little rusty on my 400ex's. After i sold my 400ex i kinda went the yami route and now going back to another 400.

My first question is, we (me really) are going to be building a 400 from frame up. The motor i dont want to really keep stock, so i was thinking a 426. Now which pistons and comp ratio would do the best. JE, ROSS, WISECO? Im going to be trail riding, and ocasional track riding. No organized racing as of yet. So its got to be reliable.

Second question, not a 426 question, but i tried to search on here and didnt come up with anything, because i didnt know what to search really. But is it just making the new brackets involved in mounting the 05 fenders on the older years.

Sorry for the probably "noob" questions, but good replies are greatly appreciated.

I believe that the only bracket you need is the one for the headlight which you have to weld on the front of your frame. I have a wiseco piston and have never had any trouble with it. I would stay with a 11:1 or lower if you want reliablity and don't want to run much above 93 octane, but I am sure that someone will disagree with me about something.

Oh yes, i forgot i do want to run pump gas. Here most places are 93 octane, but i can get 94 at sunoco.

Im doing this as my SR project in highschool. So technically i have the ENTIRE summer and next year to complete it.

Colby at C&D will tell you he doesn't reccomend Wiesco's. I am just taking his word for it. I went with Ross 11:1 for my 426. Never heard anything bad about Ross at all...they seem good to me!

Yup, this is why im asking. I really see alot of JE's and Ross...not very many WISECO. My friend is helping me build the motor. I believe he uses JE pistons in his 465, 426 and 416. I was just wondering if anyone had any bad experiences with either brand
