if som1 wuz to paint their oil cooler, what type of paint would u use? p.s i didn't know where 2 post this thread

Paint your oil tank? The oil tank is made of aluminum. Aluminum is used to help cool the oil that is in the tank. The head is also made of aluminum.

My two cts is this, DONT paint the tank. You just might hurt the cooling process of the oil in the tank. Effiecient cooling is the life line of that $6000 thumper.

My oil resivior's paint also came off (most of it...). I know that it is made of aluminum of whatever, but it also has some coat of paint or something on it. So why wouldn't you repaint it if it was painted before?

Or you could have it anodized.

I have seen people powdercoat theirs. I would powdercoat it if you did do it so the paint will hold up on it.

I have been debating polishing mine or powdercoating it! I have a Pingry oil tank and im afraid that the Powder will keep it from cooling the oil as good. Does anybody know if that would effect it??

You can send it to ReplikaMaschinen.com to get it treated with a trick black heat dispersant coating which will help it shed heat . Also you might want to get some engine scoops to funnel the cool air to the motor area better. We are working on these now and if cost effective we will be producing these and airboxes in the near future. FASTWAYMOTOSPORTS

I would like to apologize to everyone for my first reply on this thread.

I read the thread too fast. I thought the thread was refering to the oil rezzy. But the gentleman was refering to the Oil cooler. Sorry about that. I should have payed closer attention.

Yes, the paint is flaking off my oil cooler as well. Myself, that is a minor detail that doesnt concern me just yet.
