View Full Version : Gearing for 300ex?

I have a 04 300ex it is mostly stock. i have a cobra exhaust for now, fly bars, custom bumper, custom hood, and a bunch of other little things to make it look nice. i was wondering what is the best gearing. why doesnt anyone like cobra exhausts??? just wondering

I think 13/38 is stock when I put my 20' rear tires on I changed my rear sprocket to a 36t and it works awsome with that is is the same as stock. It was revving out too fast with the 38t rear. I had to put a half link in my chain to get it to fit right though!

The cobras are made cheaply and don't have the power gains that many others do. I had one and it rusted very badly in only a year. I have found that for woods riding stock gearing with 20" tires works very well. Better acceleration but less top speed. It depends on the type of riding you do. Personally I like faster acceleration verses top speed.:devil:
