So I was riding today with my dad and my 400EX completely died. My dad suddenly stopped in front of me to avoid some rocks, and I was too close behind to stop in time. I ran into the back of him and bent my bumper and broke off a couple of the front fender plastic snap holder things. It was no big deal, I didn't hit him that hard. Anyways, I turned off my quad to check out the damage and when I went to turn it back on, nothing happened. No neutral light, no headlights, no starter noise at all. I pressed the starter button repeatedly getting absolutley nothing. I messed around with the wiring to make sure nothing came loose, especially the starter cables, everything was fine. I checked the battery connections- ok there too. So what the hell happened? Why would the quad loose all power suddenly as if the battery died or something?

BTW, the manual says that a fuse may have blown if the starter doesn't work.

:eek2: :( :ermm:

your stator might have went out on ya...

umm check your fuses...check all connections like you said you did. Check to see if you have spark, then let us know if you do...

fuse.....look under the plastic and under the rubber protector if you still have it....and there is a white cap...take the cap off there should be 2 fuses in there...1 is your spare fuse, 1 is the fuse in use...take it out and put the other 1 in

Check the battery also. The collision might have caused the plates inside the battery to touch and short out.

Thanks for all the suggestions...
I tried wiggling around all the wires again today and found nothing disconnected or loose. Push starting doesn't do anything-I tried doing that about 20 times while my dad was towing me back to my truck. No luck. Anyways, I took it in to the dealer today so I should know in a couple of days what happened. They thought it was probably a fuse also. We'll see. I am just happy its under warranty! I'll let you know what I find out.
