I cant believe no one has gotten this up yet.

If you havent read about it already, here you go:

Aluminum frame, new suspension, new plastics, new engine, EFI, 686cc.

Translation:

Yamahas new RWS gate 700 Can one at the RWS GATE still which improve? One can! Impressively Yamaha announces itself with the update of its success model YFM 660 R. however to call it simply updates would be wrongly. The new RWS GATE 700 is a completely new vehicle, which has me past degrees times the Design together. People, the 700er is the hammer and hangs the measuring pole again times a piece more highly for the competition! Past the times, when one had to accept a kippeliges feeling on the large blue one. (1170mm) and long (1845mm) the new one is broad. So and with improved chassis the part hammers with deeper emphasis by the area. Helpful thereby also the small weight of 180 Kilos is. The framework tail is completely inevitable made of aluminum and reminded of run-suited motorcycles from same house. The coronation/culmination of the new concept is however the engine! That was developed completely again and goes like the sow! Owing to electronic engine management a broad, number of revolutions volume optimally which can be proportioned is available. Always sufficiently achievement in all situations in life.

The 700er pulls through from the cellar into high revolutions cleanly. We some the aggressive characteristic of the predecessor missen, but the impression is deceptive. Owing to balance wave the engine runs more calmly and more cultivated. The more at achievement is better controllable for the RWS gate pilot. Briefly said, the whole package convinces. Quadwelt could win recently a first driving impression on the presentation in Dresden. That and still more, together with the fantastic Actionfotos we present you with the test in the next expenditure.

After reading about it on the Yammi site, I think Yamaha has just built the perfect 4wheeler! It seems to have the same chassie as the 450 but with all the comforts the Raptor is known for........................THANK YOU YAMAHA FOR DOING AN AWESOME JOB! :macho

where in the world does it say anything about the new raptor on the yamaha sight. When i click on the raptor 660R, i says something about, 'we couldnt find content for the page you wish' or something like that. It doesnt say anything about the 700R anywhere I can find. It has the new '06 models like the yfz, and all the others models are fine except one, the wolverine, it does the same thing that the raptor does. Where do you guys see the new raptor?

i go on the yami website, and it doesnt even show the 660 as an option. try again later, and it will prob. work.:)

Go into open forum and it lists yamaha models and it tells the updates on the raptor and yfz450. It's pretty cool fuel injected!

...Meh.. Its ok, I think they made it look to "futuristic" or whatever...

Fuel injected huh? Interesting...

happyboy
06-13-2005, 10:03 PM
Yes, fuel injection!! All those neysayers out there that bashed the dales for EFI, well here yah go. One of the big 2 getting it done with EFI.

Now for my serious part.

I know this is just a test. They are wanting to see what the public think of EFI on the quad. They weren't going to risk it all on the 450 with EFI. It could ruin them if it didn't succeed. Well, the big part of its success is how you can change the mapping to fit your needs so easily. Well, easily for us (cannondales). We hook up the D&M kit and boom! It goes from liesure trail quad to kick ars motorcross mapping. And yes! It does make a world of difference between some maps. I hope that Yammi does give this power to the consumer. This is one huge plus for the consumer if they do. That way the motor can actually be good for all types of riding versus just having it setup good for 1 type.

I have one for sale. 03 with everything on it. The dimensions are just the same as the 06. I spent all that money getting mine, lower, longer, and wider with aftermarket, now 06 make it easy.

The rear section and the sub frame are alluminum and the front is high tensile steel. i've seen some pictures of it and it looks like a work of art. When is Honda going to release a big bore atv? If they don't do it this year there going to fall so far behind they will never catch up to Yamaha.

HONDA DONT HAVE NOTHING ON YAMAHA AS LONG AS THE 660 BEEN OUT THEY NEVER MADE A 660 TO COMPETE WITH IT:blah:

Just because the displacement on the Raptor is higher, doesn't necessarily mean its better than other bikes. No one has really made many high displacement bikes anyway. The only competitors would be the DS650 and the KFX700 I would think.

As for speed, I wouldn't think it would be that much of a difference from the 660's, being that the "700's" only have 26 more cc's...

I still want the new Raptor though :D

06-14-2005, 09:13 PM
its not a 26cc difrence the 700r is only a 686c 102 piston and the 660 is 100 piston it wont be mutch difrence i would think

My Raptor was bored .5 mm to clean the cylinder up, and even that made a noticable difference.

44oEX
06-15-2005, 11:33 AM
yeah but you probably have higher compression. it will help, it's like a 400ex and a 426ex, BIG difference, but higher compression.

high comp help alot

Robin Hood
06-15-2005, 12:07 PM
Is the compression in the 700s the same as the 660s?

If so, Yamaha should've changed that, a 10:1 Comp would do wonders.

raptorrider
06-15-2005, 02:52 PM
My Raptor used a factory Yamaha piston- it was all warranty work or it would have had a higher compression piston added.

Ciqir
06-15-2005, 04:23 PM
From the pictures I've seen it looks like they've dropped from the Genesis 5 valve head. I wonder why?

Fred55
06-15-2005, 06:35 PM
More low end torque with the 4 larger valves compared to the 5 smaller valves

Ciqir
06-15-2005, 09:00 PM
Ah, got it. You'd think that with all those cc's they'd not be as concerned with bolstering the low end and err toward the side of letting it R out.

And this is not to say that I'm not eagerly awaiting a good review either, just poking around.

Thanks--

Maybe because its not an mx quad and therefore doesnt have as much of a need for them? The shocks and bumper also save weight, mostly likely to keep the bike under 400 pounds dry. The shocks would have been another extra cost on an already expensive bike too.

Ive heard all about it. Its sounds like a bad *** bike to me. But the new YFZ is another bike to. They took the to best bikes in the competition right now and made them 2 times better then before

I have to admit it that I am not a huge fan of the raptor 660 but the new 700 could change my whole attitude towards them. I just got the new atv action and they have a whole write up about it unfortunately they didn't test it yet but it sounds bad A>>! I think yamaha is finally producing some great machines. It should be interesting how well the efi works because it would definately be cool to do mods and not have to worry about jetting.

Your very right on it. Re jetting isnt any fun . And it is sopposed to have better throttle response. And having a lighter sport bike now its lighter and faster then the older Raptors

Lighter than the old raptor by 2 pounds, and only because they used a plastic front bumper.

With EFI it should have excellent throttle response plus the made
wider so it should be interesting to see how it compares to the old raptor.

i hope the a arms fit the old

Its my understanding that the mounts to the frame are different and that they wont fit on the new bike.

So XC racers don't need Rezzies??!!! Please!!!!
