I think someone makes a hi-comp piston kit for it.

05-26-2002, 10:10 AM
anything else?

holes in the airbox (uni makes little filters that go in the 1inch holes). Bigger smaller tires for gearing, I dont know if there is a cam and carb for the 250 but if so get that and bore-out when you get the high compression piston.

flaneledholes, i dont get what you mean by holes in the airfilter, could you explain that to me?

05-26-2002, 11:06 AM
Sell it or trade it for a 300ex. Also he means drill 6 1 inch holes into the top of your airbox lid. Personally i dont think you should modify a 250ex that much. The power just isnt there. You would be better off getting a 300ex. Stock it has way more power than a 250ex. Then add a pipe, filter, jets and you'll have plenty of power.

400 ex racer, you said you dont think i should modify a 250ex that much, what could go wrong if i do, or why dont you think i should

05-26-2002, 11:36 AM
I dont want to sound like im against a 250ex. But that was made for leisure riding and a little sport riding. It would take a lot if money to make it powerful. Its not a power hungry machine. Its just not made to be powerful. You would be better off selling it and buying a used 300ex for the same price. You'll see a world off difference of power between these two machines with only 50cc difference. Trust me. I used to have a 300ex. Irode a modded 250ex(pipe, filter, jetted) and my 300ex(poweroll header, and holes in my airbox) and my 300ex simply crushed it in every category especially power.

400exrider, i know that would be great if i could do that but right now i dont see that happenin even though i want it to, so for now, im stuck with this 250ex...so im trying to make it the best it can be...

05-26-2002, 11:50 AM
Well then are you looking for more topend or more low end.

05-26-2002, 11:57 AM
im looking for anything lol, that things slow all around

05-26-2002, 12:04 PM
Ok heres a few.

Bigger tires---More top end
Smaller tires---More acceleration

Bigger front, smaller back sprockets---More top end
Smaller front, bigger back sprockets---More acceleration

Hi compression piston

Try to get the White brothers header or poweroll header

05-26-2002, 12:09 PM
sprocket? its shaft drivin lol

05-26-2002, 12:12 PM
Oh yeah i forgot. Man i feel like a dumb@ss. Those mods will wake it up alittle. Try makin it look good to. Nerf, bumper, Bars and cut fenders

05-26-2002, 12:14 PM
sorry about all the questions, im kinda new at all this, what do you mean cut the plastics, i know its kindof self explain...but like how

05-26-2002, 12:16 PM
Make it look like this.

05-26-2002, 12:20 PM
wow
how do you get them so even

05-26-2002, 12:25 PM
Well imeasured them so they were about even and marked where i wanted them and cut the rest off with a jigsaw. Then melted the side with a torch to have it feel smooth.

05-26-2002, 12:29 PM
cool, so you think i should get a Hi compression piston ...whats a
header or poweroll header?

05-26-2002, 12:32 PM
The header is the pipe that is connected to the engine and connects with the silencer. The two best are white Bros and poweroll. How old are you?

05-26-2002, 12:34 PM
17, when i got my scilencer (e-series) they said they only make the scilencer, not the full pipe...

05-26-2002, 12:36 PM
Oh ok. Well they probably will come out with it. But a hi compression piston will do the trick. By the way im 17 too.

05-26-2002, 12:38 PM
do you have a guess on how much a hi compresion piston is? and is it alot of labor, b.c i cant do it...so im going to have to pay someone to

05-26-2002, 12:41 PM
I know Pro Circuit makes a full system. Maybe sell the White Bros and buy the Pro Circuit full system. Just a thought.

05-26-2002, 12:43 PM
Well theres a kit you get. It has everything you need. It will cost no more than $150 but i dont how much money it will take to have someone put it in. Im getting a 440 national motor in as we speak for about $2500.

Do you want more acceleration, or more speed?

A high comp. piston shouldnt be too hard to install. I dont know about a person that never has done it before, but its easy for me.
A high comp. piston probably wouldnt cost much.

05-26-2002, 12:45 PM
im thinking on waiting to see if the white bros comes out with one...i reallly like the e-seiers it gave it more then i had expected,
but i noticed that on like a 300ex, and the 400ex, when you put the full headers on it, that the pipe that connects the front of the engine to the scilencer, it's a lot bigger then the stock pipe, but how come on 250ex, they look the same size

Rastus
05-26-2002, 12:47 PM
300EX/ 250X headers are just small for some reason.Thats why if you have a 300EX/ 250X , id would be best to get a full system.

05-26-2002, 12:47 PM
I have no clue on that. They should be coming out with one soon.

05-26-2002, 12:50 PM
250 er, i have a 250ex, the semi-auto 2001, not a 250x

05-26-2002, 12:51 PM
400exracer, whats this kit called

Rastus
05-26-2002, 12:54 PM
I know. Theres a big diffrence between a 250X and a 250EX.
a 250X and a 300EX are basically the same thing.Except a 300EX has electric start, and its bored alittle more.

05-26-2002, 01:04 PM
im not for sure what its called. Go to www.Wiseco.com Maybe that will help

05-26-2002, 01:07 PM
does this kit come with that high comp. piston

05-26-2002, 01:10 PM
Yep

05-26-2002, 01:11 PM
allright, i gtg, thanks alot, you were a huge help..thanks
