My honda is getting to the point where it needs a valve adjustment, I want to do it myself to save money, I know i can do it because I have done it on a 400ex. The problem is i cant find out how to do it on the 250.I've looked everywhere for the directions, but I cant find them anywhere like you can with the 400. I need to know the steps for the adjusment. Any help would be appreciated.

i've adjusted mine before. Remove the front fender gas tank and all the plastic stuff above the engine. Then pull off the valve caps. there are two. the valves are right underneath the caps and easy to adjust. Remember it's best to have them a little loose than too tight, you'll burn up a valve.

is there anything you have to do with the crankshaft?

Turn it to TDC... Is there a hole to check it on the 250EX?

Yes, there is a little hole above the left footpeg for an allen wrench, I thought it was that but I was just checking.

I adjusted my valves. The problem is the valves are barely quieter than before I adjusted them. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

I think I'll just take it in.

Dont take it in for that... Open it up again and make sure the feelers read exactly like it says in your manual. It's gonna be a big waste of time and money to take it in for a valve clearance adjustmet.

Eh... your rocker arms might be loose.

Ah... Well then your going to have to take it in then :D Lol... Anyway, did you check the rocker arms? See if they have play back and forth.

If you're lucky that's what it will be. But it could be piston slap, messed up pushrods, ect., ect.
