I'm still kinda new to 2 stokes, so I'll leave the oil questions to the experts.
For tires, razr2's or holeshot HD's are really good cross country tires. Yes they make twist throttles, check out motion pro for those. Polish I use mothers mag and aluminum polish, that along with some sanding gets awsome results.

Ok thanks, ill go pick some up, and what grit sand paper do you use?

Depending on how rough the surface is you would have to start with as rough a grit as 320, then go up from there, for example, 320, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500. But alot of times you can get away with just starting at 1500. the 320 is only if the surface is really bad. O and its all wet grit sand paper.

klotz is a good oil and they make an oil for the summer and one for the winter. i mix mine at 32:1 and it works great. honda says u should mix 20:1 but i was fouling plugs a lot when i did that. as for the tires i have standard holeshots and they r good for just about anything you could want to do w/ a 250r.

I use Belray mc-1, one small bottle and 5 gallons of gas, and Belray gearsaver in the tranny.

I believe the Klotz mentioned was for the gas mixture. The oil you use will ultimately be a personal choice. You can get a war started by asking what 2 stroke premix to use.Bel-Ray,Klotz,Maxima,ans Amsoil are some of the more popular brands.Find one that you can get easily and in your price range.Just dont but the stuff at that Wal-Mart or the conviencestores sell.i use HR-1 from Bel-Ray for the gas and Bel-Ray gearsaver in the tranny. The sandpaper is for polishing the aluminum parts on your bike after the paint has been stripped. If the stuff is already shiny, just use a good aluminum polish. For the plastic,if you want to try and shine it up,I think Maxima makes an aerosol spray called SC1

BTW,32:1 is the mixture most use unless you have some of that exotic stuff from Amsoil that some use at 50:1 or less

im running 20w50 amsoil in the gears, and klotz rc50 premix at 40:1 ratio never fouled a plug yet

100:1, never heard of any running that except for people with drag bikes. That sounds tooo lean to me.

I use Maxima Castrol 927 pre mix at a 40:1 ratio.

I'd stick to a 32:1 or 40:1 ratio. With a 40:1 ratio, you have less change of fouling plugs.

As far as the transmission oil goes, just buy whatever you think is good. Personally, I use Bel Ray gear saver as well.

Bleh... Run HP2 Synthetic at 40:1 and you wont foul any plugs... ever. The manual doesn't say 32, it says 36:1 doesn't it?

Says 20:1 right on the gas tank for some reason, that's too much though.

Run it at 40:1 and you'll be fine. Maxima or Klotz are your best bet.

Honda did call for 20:1 when these things were new.Ihave asked why myself and a couple reasons made sense like at that ratio you gave up performance by detuning the fuel and couldnt over rev and the oils back then weren't as good. For just trail riding 40:1 would be good,Irace mine so I go with the 32:1.That 100:1 is a selling point for that Amsoil(is it interceptor or Dominator)oil, cost a little more but you use less.Personally I might go 50:1 but the other is a little extreme for my liking.Alot people swear by it tho.

dominator 2 stroke . I run it at 50:1 but i know people who run it at 100:1, its just that good. all amsoil is the best oil period

i just want you guys to know that your not richening up the mixture when you use more oil your actually leaning out the FUEL mixture. This is why some people burn there motors up. they think "hey il throw some oil in just to be sure it wont seize. this is exactly what can lean motors out and have them pop.

when you change your oil ratio you change the jetting so when you jet your bike for your ratio dont change it.

also running 50:1 with amsoil will justify the reason for buying it. you will lose less oil per 5 gallons. and even though it cost mroe you use less. i use to run maxima castor 927 at 32:1 great oil, but it separates in cold weather and i used tons of it because of the 32:1 mix
imho go amsoil....

so you think i should just stick with the ams oil and lean it out a little bit? like 80, or 50:1?????????
thanks

I would stick to 40-50 : 1 to be on the safe side unless you like changing rings.

Well i like changing stuff but dont like buying them haha:)
But should i stick with my amsoil and jump it down to 5o:1?

use 50:1 amsoil dominator race oil.

dont ever switch or pour more oil in the gas get a maxima ratio rite there the best and have a cap on them so you can bring oil with you and have it measured out if you ever drive up to a gas station.

the reason i say stick with the ratio is because you can jet you bike better and have less problems with lean or rich conditions as long as you mix your gas and oil perfect everytime. I know alot of people with 2 strokes that EYE up the oil to gas.... I wouldnt do that to any of my motors NO ONE should, but they do..

I run bel ray MC1 for premix, at 50:1. For tranny oil, i use motorex 20w50

Oddly enough, when jetted properly, more oil produces more power. A 32:1 mixture will produce more power than a 50:1 mixture. The limit is right about 14:1, where the oil begins to foul the plug.

However, it's not a huge difference. Me, I run 40:1, because it's simple. One 16oz bottle of oil to a 5-gallon gas can. I have a ratio-rite, but I never use it.
