Good price for a brand new '03?

Hey everyone, I have an option to purchase a brand new 2003 400ex for $4699+tax and freight. This seems a little high to me. I want to see if I can talk the dealer down to taking it home $4600. What does everyone think? Thanks.

Not too bad. Depends on location. They are 4900 here. Lower some places, higher others. Brand new, you rarely see them less than 4300.

IMO, DO NOT BUY IT NEW!! Within 6 months, your bike will have lost at least 25% of its value, and probably quite a bit more. You can pick up used 03's for between 3000-3800. Just something to think about.

If it were me I would just get a 05 because they have reverse unless you don't care about that. Like blast said as soon as you take that off the showroom floor you are going to take a beating because it's an 03! The price seems ok so it's up to you whether you want the new body style and reverse!

i just seen '05's for $3899 plus tax & freight. its in PA. if you are close, you want their phone number? i got my 2003 2 years ago for $5000 out the door.

i bought my 2003 last year for 4800............ if i did it over again i'd buy a slightly used one...... the price drop is so severe you'll never get anywheree close to what you paid for it. Thats kinda the think i'm stuck in i still owe little over 2000 for it and i wanna sell it but i can probly only get 3 for it if i'm lucky, then i wanna buy a motorcycle but that i'm even deeper so i really have no choice but to keep it and pay it off and hold on to her.

I appreciate everyones help. The reason I am buying brand new is because I want to know it has been taken care of. Although, after everyone's suggestions, and the fact that I've read 400ex's are very reliable, I may change my mind. Do you guys think that I won't have any problems if I buy a used one. I guess I would be more worried if it were really high strung like a banshee or something. Are there any specific things I should look for regarding a used 2002-2004 400ex?

Mine was the last 04' @ Jaf's Motors. The 05's were due out in one month. I paid 4800 after tax. The 05's sell for 4900 plus tax here now. Some dealers want 5200. Sooo glad I bought an 04, and not the 05. The reverse is nice though....
