I recently bought a 2002 400ex and i've began to notice that my lowend in 2nd and 3rd is pretty bad...I guess i'm not really sure what i'm suppose to be expecting, but sometimes when i'm coming outa a turn and punch the throttle in 2nd it bogs and at speed its really hard to get the front to come up at all.
Is there something wrong here that i should look into? Or am i just expecting too much?

try downshifting.......... if your not running enough RPMS for second its gonna bog no real way around it. What is at speed? if you think the front will come up at 65 your crazy but i can only get the front to jump on 1-2 and a little bit on the 3rd shift.

i would drop a tooth. we dropped 2 on my 400 and its very easy to bring the front end up, maybe to easy. so i think imma go up to a 14tooth

For a stock 400ex, my sufggestion would be to check more than just your gearing, check your jetting,do a Compression reading, if that looks good then your hoping for too much:p but a stock EX should pull an easy wheelie in third, afterall they are the wheelie masters!:macho

You guys must have something wrong with your ex's. I had a slip on k&n filter, no airbox lid and rejetted and mine was pretty quick.
I could pull the wheels in any gear!
