I recently drilled some holes in theair box lid of my 400ex, and then 2 in the back of the airbox right above the sticker that tells you how much slack you should have in your chain. I then washed it and got some water on my airfilter, I was wondering if this will do any damage to the engine if I run it. Is it ok to run it and let it dry after a while or should I go and get a new K & N with some waterproof outerwears....Thanks ahead for any help. sorry for being so stupid.

I modified my airbox lid too. some water should not hurt your filter. if the filter is oiled properly, most water will bead up & run off. don't forget to remove your airbox drain cap so water that enters can also exit.

you really shouldn't wash yours w/o an airbox lid. if u do, under the seat is a pinkish like plug that you can pull off, it's right above your swingarm. It will let all the water out of your airbox

On my airbox lid i have a hole the size of the filter then 3 1" holes after the big one. When i wash my quad i always put a plastic sandwich baggy on my air cleaner then put a rubber band where the clamp is too. I never get water on my air cleaner and i also take the plug out when washing.

as long as water doesnt pass through the filter you should be good to start it. just take off the air filter when your done and make sure theres nuthing inside.
