Hey guys,
This sat. im going to be bringin a 86 honda 250R home. Im paying 3200 for it and it has 11k invested. And i think this guy is a lil full of *****. he tells me it can go 110-115 and has about 60RWHP. i have ridden it once and i can belive that it has 60hp. but i had it in 6th going down a long straight road"uphill and about half-way craked open", and ill be the first to say i was haulin.:D i passed a 400 ex like he was in 1st gear, but i dont think i was going 100 even. so it makes me wonder if he knows what he is talking about. but i do know he spend about 11k in it, i have seen all of the papers. So what do you guys think, is he a lier?.... or dont i know how to guess my speed.

"any 1 know the stock hp and top speed of an 86 R?"

We would need to have a motor mods list gearing ratio's? Some one on here has a formula to figure it out though?

stock hp- aprox 38
stock mph -66-70 mph (with average weight rider)

Aw man.
i couldnt tell you the gear ratios, i know there really really tall though. when i hit 6th it just kept going and going. and i know he has it all geared for top end stuff. i know its got a dp pipe some kind of reeds its ported and polished and i think its got a shaved head. but thats really all i know till i got pick it up this weekend.

But am i getting a good buy for 3200? its in really good condition and runs perfect. but the only thing i dont like is that he mixes the gas 100:1:eek: :ermm: its 100% synthetic racing oil. it amazes me that it hasnet blowen yet. do you think has done any damage?????

pimped to the gills pimped. but with no bore kits just the 250"piped,geared,ported,race fuel,and more" and what 350? like a banshee? could a shee beat the R?

hes talkin about like a 350PV not a shee or anything. a 350 pv will walk all over alot of stuff. especially just a raper with a pipe.

im brom the black river falls area... and yes, ive had both. hopped up raptor, and now i got ym preaty hopped up R. the raptor was a powerful machine.... but my R will take the raptor in everything but a reverse drag race.

Glad to hear that. me and a friend were fighting about that. and another ? what the heck is a 350PV????

its a big bore kit for the 250r. and a "PV" is wut they call a powervalve. all the dirtbikes come with them stock. but the 250r's never had them. its just a little valve that sits on top of ur exhaust valve, and it open's up in the higher RPM's to get u better top end power. and the 350 is CC's... preaty much a big big cylinder on your R. it comes as a whole new cylinder.... costs around 2 grand just for the cylinder and piston kit. then u gotta get a bigger carb.... get your case halves machined and all that good stuff. they are wicked powerfull motors, but I think they are usually used for drag racing. Ive never seen one raced MX.... dont get me wrong, some people might. but i use a 265.... revs alot quicker... so therefore accelerates faster.

i had a 250R and got rid of it because i almost killed myself "i'm 15 years old and 130lbs" and nearly got my self killed none the less it was the fastest bike i ever rode and now i have a 300ex and i feel more controllerable over it and i feel like i can whip it around more and do more.RIP 250R.

i can relate to you im 15 and 135, i feel safe on it becase it has good handling. but when you goose it then i get scared. and you should have gotten the 400 ex or the 450. i had problems with my 300 and *****.

whats better,,,??? a stroker kit or a 310 big bore? and does the 310 big bore come with the piston? and home much do they cost? like 800 to 1200? and if you buy a stroker kit do you have to run race fuel?

stroker kits, u gotta send out your crank to get stroked. usually costs around 300-400 bucks. a 310 kit with non PV will run ya about 1200 i think. ad a PV and ur around 1800. any application u run, u wont have to run race gas, unless u get the compression up above 180psi.

go to the auto parts store and get a compression tester. then u screw that in where ur spark plug goes, and kick it over a bunch of times with the throttle wide open. and it will read it for u

how much would that set me back in $? and whats the min compression reading you can have if you would want to burn racing fuel?

i dont think they are more than 20 or 30 bucks.... but i havent priced them out either. minimum race gas is 180-190

on the compression test do you run the bike with the gas turned off to get the fuel out the lines. ? you do not want to flood. iv done this with a car and i disconnected the fuel pump fuel. and yes WOT for accurate results.

i guess ive always done the compression test on 4wheelers with the gas on. ive never had trouble with floodin it. if u wanted to, u could probly just take the tester out afterwards and kick it a few times open to get the excess fuel out... blow it out the top.
