i checked the gas and oil and they were fine.. the motor turns over and everthing it just wont start... i have yet to touch the machine im hoping its just a simple plug problem or jetting... any other ideas of what the heck coulda gone wrong

check your compression
check your sparks
check if you have fuel on your spark plug

with a compression gauge

you can rent one at the auto parts

check if your sparks plug is wet

In the spark plug hole :) You need to find out what your comp is supposed to be so you know if it's good or not!!

you may want to read through the thread of johnnydufus. he had the exact same thing happend to his ex and he is not looking into the possibility it could be the timing chain.

at a race about a month ago i was running full out in 4th gear then it bogged down like a blaster. my 400ex will not start, it tries to turn over and it doesnt fire up

at first it didnt have spark so i checked all of the electrical and replaced a fuse and cleaned all the connections and i now have spark... i put in a brand new plug and it still doesnt start up. so i searched and read about cleaning carbs so i just got done cleaning my carb and still nothing. i checked to make sure it had compression and sure enough it has compresion but it still wont fire up... help me please

i dont know what else to check

make sure ur engine killswitch (orange slide button) is in the middle...play wit it a lil bit...its happened to me a few times and even tho it may be in the middle play wit it cuz those things are really touchy

well as long as you have a spark, it shouldn't be your kill switch

the only other thing to check for is timming
Do you notice it turns over quicker or anything now?

i heard about some sprocket hubs or wutever u call them on the camshaft that hold the sprocket breaking... just an idea..
like the motor will turn but the cam wont spin

you may have spark but is it a GOOD spark i mean test it with a OHM meter, and i will look up in my manual the acceptable range, this happend on my friends warrior and it was the PICKUP COIL, it was getting spark but the reading were WAY off, replaced the whole stator, with a NEW pickup coil and she fired off first push (after a full engine over haul).

if you need i can post pics of the service manual pages detailing how to go about testing the coil//

also do you have a aftermarket CDI? if so put the stocker on and give it a try, some cdi boxes (white brothers) make for hard starting.

if you still have a problem, i would be more then happy to help you fix it.

if you want you can give me a call.... 845-527-3778 (kyle) and i can try and walk you through it.
