well somewhat,my uncles girlfriends parents played the pick 6 and got 5 out of the 6 numbers, they won a 175 grand,if they had one more number they would have won 160 million,so the are giving some to us for helping out my uncle when he was in trouble, and my parents are like well heres your car money

So right now what car
RX8 or 350z
BUT WAIT!!!!

how high do thoes rotary engines rev anyways. I hear it is pretty amazing.

Banks desile performance has a goal to make a desil engine run at 7,000 rpm. like a normal gas engine.

so when are you going to get a new quad?

i dont have any numbers on the rotory but we had an old rx7 that we wanted to grenade so we put a brick on the gas pedal in nuetral. thing wound out the holy hell for about 30 minutes before we realized it wasnt breaking. it revved so high i was in suspense for a huge KA-BOOM for a half an hour. it's insane man.

who would want a diesel to rev that high? whats the point? you'd be sacrificing such low end if you wanted to make it have any power up there.

If you decide to get a 350z, I would go for the Infinity G35 instead. It looks a lot better in my opinion and is the same car.

i already decided i dont want a truck, and im getting another quad in two years the latest, and for some people i personally like some of the imports, none of those POS civics and stupid *** jettas

the thing is im trying to buy a car that is at least 2 years old so i can help my rents out with insurance,i dont want it to sky rocket because i need a one year old car

wow like you went already rich enough! Damnit john you must be doing something right in this world to have the luck you do! Good luck with the car deal. If It were me I would get a s2000. Not as bad as a RX-8 or 350z on insuranse, RWD, and you have that Honda reliabilaty. JMO If I had to decide between the RX-8 or 350z i'd go with the RX-8, gotta love that wankel rev!

get a 5.0 mustang with open headers and a procharger, lope arse cam, drag radials in the back and pizza cutters in the front. always wanted that and just make a nice scene in the school parking lot. off topic but i use to have a truck until the tranny blew 6 months ago now i drive a front wheel drive car. well today i had my dads duramax sideways in the grocery store parkin lot. fresh slick tar and drizzle will do some nice drifting :macho

bansheeguy77
06-09-2005, 05:00 AM
they both suck....for the money you are spending on both why not get the performance you are paying for? go for an sti, or a used like 02 vette. for 30 g's the z and rx dont live up to the name at all. even go for like an srt and put the rest of the money into motor work.

TheFontMaster
06-09-2005, 05:37 AM
The G35 is also all wheel drive if I remember corectly. Out of those 2 cars I would go with the 350z. But IMO go find yourself a nice older v-8 car. Like a camaro, cugar, mabey even a old muscle car from the 60's some nice ones can go for under 25 grand. It's obvous that if you get a v-8 you can afford gas, and those improrts while some of them are nice, they don't turn heads like muscle cars do. I'm going saterday to look at a nova I might buy to restore.:macho

be sure and get a can of dip, a spit can, overalls, a cowboy hat, and a charlie daniels band casette to go with that.

if i were you, i wouldnt get anything special...save your money, because your only 16. you will most likely be involved in a wreck with your first car, so get something cheap that runs. i personally think its a huge waste of money to spend any more than 2k on a car for a 16 year old.

06-09-2005, 06:49 AM
get a 1980's chevy blazer! get one with a 350, lift it up enough to fit at least 36, maby 40" tires. now that is a nice vechile.

go for like a 98-04 mustang GT

If I were you I would get 2 cars.
I would get a 60’s muscle car :muscle: . And an import!

Get a muscle car like a 67-68 camaro not a 69 to many of them. Or a 60’s chevell or GTO.
And only drive it a little. You can get classics insurance for them for like less than $300.00 a year full coverage! And you can get a nice one for less than 10G, or a real supper nice restored orignal z28 / RS/SS for more. They have been going up in value so it could be like an investment that you could keep forever!

If you get a z350 by the time you pay off your half it will not be worth any thing. And when it brakes down it will cost a lot.

All for the import get one to learn to drive in and for a Daly driver. but get some thing nice!!

:D

Like someone said earlier, insurance is going to be insane on those cars. If you do get something like a 350Z or RX8, find a way to put it on your parents insurance. Fix it so that on paper, you're only a "secondary driver".;) Much cheaper.

exactly,my friend just bought a brand new Mitsubishi Evo and it was 800 dollars a month for insurance, but he called up the insurance and said his dad would be driving it,so now he pays 199 a month, and i can have any POS car i want,my work at a mechanics every now and then when they need me,its my uncles place so he always has a couple crappy cars laying around, but idk i dont want to be riding around in a POS car worrying about if the frigging car is going to fall apart if i go above 40 mph

when i was lookin at a car i foudn something cheap and usable

1993 Ford Explorer 4 door 4 wheel drive- it can haul the trailor and is reliable and gets decent fuel milage

and we only paid 250 bucks cuz it was in an impound lot and the guy said it didnt run. we brought it home and put a battery in it and new gas and oil and she started right up :D

Like someone else said.., Insurance on either of those cars will be outrageous. They'll see the name and tack on a few hundered more just because of the name.

No offense to your driving skills either, but most people wreck their first car. Something to think about.

I'd say save your money like Fender said, and buy something that's affordable. Think about all the other large amounts of money you'll have to either dish out or get a loan for in the next few years. You'll have to keep this car for a good while too, so you might want something that's versatile.

Yea in my auto body class, a sienor had his 85 couger in there, it was in the shop a while, compleate paint job, looked great when it was done. Last monday I walk in the shop and sitting on the frame machine is the cougar, he ran into the back of a minivan, the frame was bent down, and about 3 or 4 inches to the left, needed new hood, bumper, bumper cover, fender, and the radiator suport should be fixed but with 4 days left of school we are russhing to get it done.

im buying a car and i COULD get something like a used Evo or along those lines but im going to skip that and get abeater (kinda) i want it to last me for about 3 years or so and im only spending 2500 on my first car im a descent driver for only having my permit for a week and a half but im looking into an old bronco or blazer and lifting it like 4 inches and puttin on 32's or so nothing fancy i dont want high insurance so but if i were you id save most of it and just buy like a civic and do a nice system in it and put on rims, tires, and a body kit and paint it it would be sweet or just go and buy the 350Z and call it a day

TCracin440ex
06-09-2005, 05:29 PM
ok here is my opinion you want to save your parents some insurance money...do NOT get a sports car...both the cars mentioned are sports cars...bottom line...your 16 years old and your going to be payin out the arse for 1 of these cars

my buddy is 20 years old he has a 95 eclipse and he has full coverage and pays 250 a month

you should think about the future because its your first car and most teens are doomed to wreck their first vehicle...so i woudlnt get anything with a too high of a price tag and also remember when your gettin insurance the newer the vehicle...the higher the insurance...color, and seating also plays a key factor in insurance

im 18 and i pay 120 dollars a month for my 1998 silverado z71 thats LIABILITY ONLY...which aint bad...but aint good either....and i have a clean driving record...knock on wood...but anyone under the age of 25 is going to pay higher car insurance...but why bargain to make it higher by gettin an 2000-2003 model car....

TCracin440ex
06-09-2005, 05:32 PM
oh yea keep in mind for the winter months too...NY is known for having some rough winters...what good is a sports car going to do you in snow....i think none...i drive a truck and after having a truck and seein this winter so many cars front wheel drive and rwd laid up in the ditch im glad i have those extra 2 wheels pullin

i say get a truck it will play out for the best in the long run JMO

TCracin440ex
06-09-2005, 05:39 PM
not tryin to start a flame fest....but incase you dont kno...there is a such thing called lift laws and to get 44's under a truck your goin to have to do about 12 inches of lift

and with high gas prices...why would any moron buy a lifted vehicle or even drive 1...i could see havin 1 for a weekend driver but not a daily driver...esp with 44's on it

i say a stock sized 1990-2002 model chevy z71 with maybe soem aftermarket wheels would be great!

im a nissan fanatic, if you have the money you should be able to pick a stock z for under 25 grand. also if you do like rotary power i suggest doing a little research. they have great power to wieght ratios but require certain care. concider the mazda rx7 fd3s twin turbo. it will blow the socks off a rx-8 and has the most unique styling ever. the motors tend to need frequent rebuilds around every 60k. i have a nissan 240sx. they are going to be the new honda civic with the new fast and furious movie being about drifting but that will increase the value. anyone wanting a 240 get one now. im warning you. the price of rwd sport compacts is about to sky rocket. heres a pic of an rx-7. ill try to find a stock one.

you won't like my advice.. use the money to pay for a good school. Get a degee in anything you like and you will always be able to buy all the toys you could ever want.

My grandparents won a lottery when I was 17. The money they gave me is sitting in a trust fund that I can't touch until I'm 50. That sucks but I see their logic in it.

NO SIREE BOB....it dont quite work like that....not at all...when you start driving....your parents have to put you on their insurance policy....and once they tell what vehicle your driving....wew

TCracin440ex
06-09-2005, 10:25 PM
oh and just so you kno more about insurance

if you own a red car...that makes the price of your insurance go up as well as if you ahve a 2 seater car...you havnt noticed with mustangs & camaros they are sports cars...but htey have more than 2 seats so the insurance wont be that high...but those seats behind the driver aint very big but it can be called room for more than 1 passenger for insurance reasons

TCracin440ex
06-09-2005, 10:32 PM
im not positive but the 2 cars u wanted are 2 seater...the 350z im almost positive

insurance is also more expensive for a male driver than what it is a female driver...because they say us males have that "need for speed" and "driving wreckless"

well i dont kno where these arse holes come from but ive seen some women that dont quite drive fast but drive wreckless as hell...most women these days blab on the cell phone while driving...dangerous....and ive seen a few women that flat out keep the hammer down...my mom is 1 of them women that do both....talk on the cell phone with the hammer down...

a few years ago my mom added a RED 85 corvette which is the worst color and worst car you can put on insurance cuz corvette is mostly fiberglass and if you wreck it...its pretty much a total loss...im not sure how much it made the insurance go up....but i kno it made our insurance go up quite a bit....she had to drop off the full coverage back down to liabilty

i go street racing with my friends all the time. a 5.0 mustang with headers, ignition, catbacks is equal to a stock 350z. if you just want power and fast, the 350z is yours. if you want to have some fun and get credit, build something up! i'd get an older mustang, late 60's or early 70's and fix up the body, interior and do the motor. make it a 12 second drag car. i'd abe a hell of a lot of fun and not tooo expensive.

The 350Z's don't have a back seat. Theres space back there though. Just not alot. The RX8 has two back seats that match the front, and are down just as low so they are surprisingly roomy for such a tiny car.

Tell your 'rents you want a 350Z, get one used for around 20, and use the extra 10grand your saving from buying used for a few 'extras'.

Vortech supercharger kit (or Greddy twinturbos), Borla true dual cat-back exhaust w/ Borla headers, performance wheels/tires, and if your lucky you'll come up shy of 10k. But, you'll have more power than you need.

Heres a little read-up on a Greddy TT equipped 350Z.

http://www.lextreme.com/TT350Z.html

If you can find a beater for the winter, and a quad hauler, I suggest the 350Z 100%. Great cars, nostalgic, other Z owners will love to meet&greet with you, etc. Theres annual Z-rides somewhere out west too I believe.

he can go under his parents policy. i was under my old mans insurance for a little bit. all they do is put your name on his policy along with your vehicle. im 19, just got a new 05 civic si and i pay around 2500 a year for full coverage. under your parents policy that price will more than likely be atleast slashed in half.

i still vote no for 350z, but thats completely your decision. for what they should be they are very disapointing. you can pick up a camaro ss, wrx, sti, old camaro or gto. basically any "cool" car. but if you get the z throw the tt in it so then it is competitive.

street racing? you win!

I really don't feel like wading through this whole thread, but my advice would be to buy something a couple years old and cheaper. Cars are probably the biggest waste of money and worst investment possible. If you get a 350Z now, it will be worth about half of what you paid in a couple of years, if you don't wreck it first. Invest your money in a mutual fund and forget about it for about ten years. It's probably not the coolest thing to do, but when you have a big chunk of money in the bank when you hit your twenties and want to buy a house, you'll thank yourself.

How long will a beater last?

Buy a nice new, dependable car (hard to beat Nissan in that catagory). Driving junk gets real lame real fast, even as a kid. If you buy a Metro or some other rinky dink generic car, good luck if someone ever decides to take their eyes off the road in a full-size sedan and barrels *** into the side of that go-cart.

insurance dont change on teh color of the car lmfao...

my insurance on my RED silverado is exactly the same as it would be on a white, blue, black, etc:o

if it were me i'd get a car that u can actually use or make money off of in the future...

get a silverado, f150, etc for 22,000$ and u can go anywhere... have tons of room to haul ur friends around... haul ur quad anywhere u need to go... have 4x4... and still have enouf power to have some fun... i can burn both of my back tires off if i want 2... and nothing beats teh sound of a V8... plus i hate to say it but girls love guys driving around in new pick ups...;)

or buy something like the new shelyb gt500 and keep it as a collectors car... take care of it... and then sell it for 10x the price 25 years from now...

It depends on what state you live in. I know in MA it doesnt matter the color, but in Rhode Island, the color of the vehicle(red for instance raises insurance) as well as the sex of the driver goes into determining insurance rates.

YamaWarr0121
06-11-2005, 01:39 PM
very true on the color, my blue 98 m3, first car (RIP) cost 6500 a year in insurance comparable to a silver one i was going to buy costing only 6300 lol like that matters when it costs that much anyway

but yeah, you put the car in your parents name, and switch things up a little bit, and i do drive a 2004.5 stage 2 1.8 Turbo Jetta GLI and i still bet i can take your 350Z as long as i get traction when the boost kicks in, need to work on my tire selections  plus your driving german engineering which is made for corners, fast straights, and a lot of fun driving!

i'd go with the RX8 out of that choice though! very sweet
:blah:
