what to do to the 05 Z with only 1500$

My bro got a 05 z and has 1500 dollars and he wants to modify it in just the motor only, he is saving up for an extended swingarm. He told me he wants to take it to Alba Action in Poway,CA in San Diego county so that they can modify it. What should he do to the motor with 1500 dollars and how much power would his Z have in the end? How much horsepower does it have stock? Let me know what you people think he can do and how much power he should have.

Depends where you ride, what kinda trails you ride, etc. First i would start off with a HMF full exhaust system, GREAT system!

get a cam and a full hmf system to begin with, after those get a new racing rev box. save a little money because the stock tires are crap and your going to be wanting some new ones soon.

As far as the motor. Get exactly this it will be a screamer.

Stage II Hotcams (intake/exhaust)
Dyna Ignition (2nd setting)
Some sort of Aluminum Airbox to accomodate a 250r Style K&N
Obviously the K&N
An FCR40mm carb from the Honda 450
Kibble White Valve Springs
10% stiffer clutch springs
Port the cyl. head yourself or have someone do it
Full HMF exhaust

I think that is all that i had last year. You could try to run race gas if you like to fool around with jetting a lot. That should put you between 40-50 h.p. With those exact mods i was equal in drag to a 2004 YFZ450 w/thunder alley exhaust, jet kit, K&N, and different gearing. Good Luck.

You can put the port and polish and cams , you cna not put those on intill his warrentee is up or enless he wants to avoid it lol

i did a 440 for 250 for parts 100 for labor
hot cams for 300 at the time 1 and 2
40mm fcr carb from www.servicehonda.com for 380 with a cable
ct sonic exaust for 485 with 16 discs the best exaust for the z and then a 15t sprocket
that bike was a screamer,that carb was off a 03 crf 450

It will run like a bat outta hell at about 75hp and 12000rpm. It wont read line near as low. It will corner better than almost anything and still lands soft over a 60' double

You can do all you want to a Z engine, its not even capable of 75hp. stock it has 29hp. :rolleyes: and 12000 rpm? wtf theres no rev box on the market than even does that. a z with a bog bore and a slip on will get like 34hp

75hp wow that must of been on a home made dyno! ok now lets slip out of candy land for a minute and talk real #'s my friend down the shop had a motor like mine that i stated above on a dyno jet dyno he was getting in the mid to upper 40"s i cant remeber the exact # but thats real and i think you other 440 guys will agree with me

I would say go suspension first. Get a nice front/ rear shock setup and you wont believe the difference. Its amazing how much faster your able to go when it handles better, then after that then go into the motor.
