FMF Power Core 4, are they any good for a 400EX?

I know most everyone here says HMF, but I see Golden West Cycle is running a special, silencer, K@N, pre-charger and jet kit for $300, which seems like a good price to me, since most silencers are close to $300 anyways. That' basically all the mods I'm gonna do to my 400, mainly for reliability and longevity reasons. Any ideas? Thanks!!!

I dont under stand the concept of the slip on, you get in trobble for the noise of a full system with mild proformance, for the extra little dough you get a big proformance gain.

actually the difference in performance between a slip-on and full system are not that much , unless you plan on doing some serious engine mods in the future , get the slip-on and i have never owned a fmf myself but a friend recently came in with his raptor and had a fmf powercore 4 and i thought it sounded great but i could not tell you how much of a performance gain it gave since it was my first time on a raptor but he said that it gave it a nice gain.

I ran a powercore 4 many years ago. It was a nice slipon that gave decent gains and was not overly Loud. I say go for it...:macho

i run the powercore 4 and love it.. good gains and have gotten many compliments on the way it sounds..

not many people run hmf around here so therefore i have never raced one... have heard one once it sounded pretty good tho.. i guess its just a preference.. i know its better than the the Wb e series which everyone and their mother runs on their 400's around here cause it won the dirt wheels pipe shootout... but i like the powercore 4 id day buy that

i had a powercore 4 on my raptor and it sounded wicked and it gave it a very nice power gain. i now run a big gun on my 400ex and it sounds quite nice and has a very nice bottom end-mid range

i have put a powercore 4 and the FMF powerbomb header on the 400ex and i say you can feel the power diffrence, now with the piston and cam. I know theres more power hiden in there so some more fine tuning and ill have the 400 the way it should have been built.

my old man's running it on his completly stock otherwise 400 and i can feel a difference. it sounds pretty good too.

Thanks for all the advice. I have a Cobra Jet pipe on my 350X 3 wheeler and it was way to loud until I got a "Sparky" spark arrester for it, now it's down to a tolerable, nice sound level. I'm not all for overly loud pipe, such as the neighbor down the street who has a TC shorty on his Yamaha 450. I'm about ready to grab him by the neck. People, noise does suck and it will bother everyone if things are obnoxiously loud. Anyways, I'm going to keep my 400 stock, I just want to let it breath a little better, maybe it'll wake it up some. That's basically why I'm not pushing for a full system, don't really plan on digging into the motor. For real though, my friend has a full WHite Bros. that he put on his 400 back in 2000, and I think it sounds decent. I guess I just want to be a little different. Thanks again for all the help!!!

I think it sounds real nice but I don't think it's too loud and it pulls real nice.

I have a fmf Ti 4 and HAD a power core IV before that. I like the Power Core IV better. Less loud,includes a spark arrester screen & better built.
