I have a '04 400EX that I am going to be doing some things too like exhaust, bumpers, skid plate, etc. and am looking into possibly changing the heel guards and foot pegs. There are a couple of companies out there that make them, like IMS/Roll Design and Pro-Armor, but I don't want nerf bars, just the pegs and guards. For that, IMS seems to be the only choice, but they are damn expensive: $150 for the heel guards and like $230 for the pegs. I guess my question is- is it worth the money to change the pegs and heel guards from stock? Especially with the pegs, will I notice a difference in control or feel? What am I gaining? BTW, this would not be used for MX, just trail and off-road use.

Thanks!

motomahmi, has a deal on ebay its $330 shipped for ims kick ups and heelgaurds, heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43972&item=4553225478&rd=1

I have this combo for my YFZ, very nice, not really expensive, when some pro peg nerfs are around $250

I would of gotten a set for my old ex when I had it but was broke at the time, just had regular AC nerfs, still a good combo, but dont really like nerfs, keep with the aftermarket pegs and heelgaurds

First of all yes the IMS pegs are worth the cash..
you said that you do alot of trail riding.. these pegs are great when you have muddy boots.
And the kick ups never let your feet slid off the pegs...
the heel guards are great as well... shop around you can get them chepper than what you posted.
Great investment...:)
just my 2 cents

rockymountainatv.com sells the ims kick ups for around $200, then you could find some used heelgaurds, and save some money

Thanks for the opinions and suggestions. Not only do the pegs and heel guards look a lot better than stock, but they apparently perform a lot better too.

my dad has the pegs on his Z, definitely worth the coin if you have it

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com has the guards on sale for 142.99 right now.

I have the pegs and they're great. You'll love them in wet or muddy conditions. Where my feet used to slip on the stock pegs the IMS pegs holds them good. Plus if you have big feet, I have sz11, they're wider and fatter...much better feel and control.

Just my opinion. ;)
