I was told by the tire shop that i should be able to fit a set of Firestone Destination M/T's in a 265/75/R16 on a 16x8 pro comp rim with a 4" backspacing on my 2001 toyota tacoma with stock suspension. I was wondering if anyone had this setup or similar size, if it fit fine without rubbing, and how they liked it and if they noticed it was a little slower off the line with the bigger tires or anything. The stock wheels are the old 15x7 steel rims with 225/75R15's.

My stock tires were 265/70/16. I had no problem with them.

Do you know what the rim size and backspacing was by any chance? The stock tacoma's had a choice for the 16x7's, so i'm hoping that the extra inch won't matter too much and the tires are an extra inch taller at about 32 vs. 31.

I dont remember the back spacing. The rim came with 16's. The tires were 265/70/16. I gave them to my brother who had 15's on his 01 tacoma. The do not rub at all. I would think the tire shop is telling you the truth. good luck.
