My son bent the rear axle on his 05 250ex. How hard is it to replace? I picked one up am not sure if I should take it to the dealer or try myself. Any suggestions?

i wouldve tried to bend it back before i went and bought another axle...if you dont kno much about your quad or how to mess with the axle assembly stuff id take it to the dealer

It's not hard at all.... just take the hubs off first, then the big lock nut then slide it rite out

Of course I didn't do this myself, but that's what my dealer told me the process was.

i did it my self its pretty easy but i had a service manual you take off the hubs and the lock nut on the axle then you unbolt the drum brake on the right side then slide it out. are you sure its only the axle, i thought mine was the axle, but its either the swing arm bent or the frame is.

not worth it, once its bent it will never be straight again.

If you are handy at all save yourself some cash and pick up a service manual and DIY it. It isn't hard to do and the manuals spell it out pretty well. A manual should only be around $25 and it's much cheaper than a $60/hr. labor fee at the dealer.:eek2:
