Yea, I would say you got a good deal. At this tiem last year I bought a 98 300ex with that same stuff for $2500 :ermm: . As for a pipe, go with a Curtis Sparks x-4. For a big bore kit, talk to FST, get their 330 kit, it is excellent quality. www.fourstroketech.net

1500 sounds about right for the 98 300ex.As for exhuast i'm running a White bros. header and HMF pipe with the quiet core.Makes good power and is not overly loud. With a pipe, jet kit and filter you will see noticeable imrovements over the stock 300.

As for what to do next you can switch to a higher compression piston(11:1),cam and some port work and you will see a very nice improvement. You could also have someone install one of the big bore kits available for the 300ex 330 and 350.....330 probably being the most popular.I have a Sparks racing 330 right now and it will beat stock 400ex's.If you want the 350 give gt thunder a call or ask bradley300 from this site about some info on it.Just remember one thing though....if you're looking to go fast the best thing you could do would be to put a better suspension on it.....especially on the 300ex.;)

sounds like u made out well in that deal as far as boring it i would wait a few months and get used to it...if this is your first time with a manual clutch...if not then get the FST 330 and uni or k&n and hmf wit wb header....thats what i would do

I think you got a heck of a deal with that one.
With the pipe, if you want good power and less sound get the FMF Q or Q2. I run one with a stock bore though I dont no how it will work with a big bore.
sorry
