Bah.. I'm sure you can machine the hole in the case. and insert the seals + gear assembly from the older 400ex. (req. case split of course).

I know you can do this with the 250x kick on a 300ex.

does the XR400 bottom end bolt into the 400ex nd the chain lines up perfect and all with no mods please tell me this is true cuz i have one at my neighbors i may be making my 400ex a kickstart this weekend:devil:

It's the same motor.. just slightly modified (dumbed down) internally and thrown on a quad frame.

You may want to make sure they have the same stroke, though. A lot of times they make the quads smaller bore w/ longer stroke in the same engine for more torque.
