It's been discontinued because Honda is backing out of racing again............Okay not really, Honda does this every year the reintroduce the models that arent getting any significant changes then a few months later introduced the new updated models which mean the 450R is probably going to have some pretty significant updates for 06. I've heard a redesigned rear end and repositioned engine.

Actually, call me crazy, but I remember hearing this some where. If you put a catalytic converter on a 2-stroke, you can make them meet emissions, and I heard rumors about the compainies so they they can keep making 2-strokes. That would be great, because all you would have to do is cut offf the catalytic converter, or get an aftermarket pipe. But I doubt that is true, but it is just a thought.

I doubt they'd use catalytic converters but they are designing new ignition and fuel delivery to meet emissions. Look up "cleanfire" for Polaris and I can't remember what Bombardier is using, but they got it to work so they can still produce 2-strokes. Polaris has tried but they keep failing, hopefully for the Polaris snowmobile fans they figure it out.

Well I know that you can get a new 250r if you really want one. Service honda sells them. ATV action did an article on it, and they said it was EXREMELY powerful. They said it made a stock yfz 450 feel like a stock z-400.

Honda won't come out with a new 250r, the closest you can find is the service honda 400ex/cr250. It is just rumors. Rumors on the forums are almost has bad as rumors in my high school.

that was such a lame change honda made, they are falling behind alot, for Ex. suzuki came with the new 400 with better shocks carb etc., honda made reverse :o, yamaha came with the 350 raptor, honda did nothing, now suzuki is coming with the 450, Honda better step it up some, more than just changing colors and reverse

yeah you can count on the 450r getting some good redesign and probably a more powerful powerplant because, im pretty sure honda is fed up of the YFZ winning nearly every shootout, thats just not honda for you, honda isnt use to being second. so keep your fingers crossed

shootouts in the magezines mean nothing.

shootouts in magazines dont mean nothing for experienced riders but to people not really into quads it means just as much as "oh i bought it cuz i liked the color""

Bombardier uses direct injection. WIth dirct injections, their snowmobiles meet emissions and they also use less gas than a 4 stroke. They will be making a 2 stroke sport quad soon enough I heard from my sources;)

no reason to spread rumors about two strokes coming back on the market in quads, i just dont see it happening, as cool as it would be. 4 strokes are slowly taking over. as for the shootouts, im just saying, the 450r is a great quad, but it is highly knocked in magazines, although most of us wont fall and didnt fall for the magazines scheme, many others will choose the yfz over the 450r just by word of magazine. honda dont want that and either would you if you were a company in the running for Number 1. what im getting to here is, honda needs to put something out that wont be second in everything reguardless who pays what magazine. Granted the 450r is a great quad,, but comeon here this is honda.
