I am thinking about working on a 300/crf250 hybrid quad either during the summer or this winter. Can anyone give me any pointers or any tips on what to do/what not to do. How hard will it be rigging up the engine to the frame, the exhaust to the frame? Thanks

u'd prolly be better off with a 400ex chassis. more room and alot stronger. and i would suggest using a yz250f engine cause a few people i know with the honda had probs with the crank. and the yz's oil is not separate, so there's a lot more oil for the crank. just a thought.

Ok, why in the heck would you want to do that? A crf 250 motor?? I know it will probablly have more power than your 300ex, but c-mon, You need more power!!!!!, lol. I saw someone else on here did a cr 500 motor in a 300ex frame. Do like an xr 650r motor, or a trx 250r motor, or a crf 450, or uhhh, whatever you fell like. But at least build something with more cc's than you have now, because a crf250 is a 4-stroke, right? so I doubt it will have that much more power, unlike a 650R:devil:   .

Well thats not fast enought, lol. My 330 hit 68 with track gears on it, so it doesn't dsoudn that much better. Just big in a BIG motor, trust me, you will get bored of a crf 250 motor. I am getting bored of my 330. I wish I would have done the 350x conversion, that way I could bore out that to a 400.

have you ever raced a yz250f dirt bike or any 250 for that matter. they make more power than 400exs and my neighbors stock yz250f will barely beat me in top end on my 400, and my 400 had full pro circuit, high comp piston, cam, and a 406. the 250 are ungodly fast for there size. and before u go saying its the rider, im not a bad rider im actually pretty good and beat out most 400s ive raced

I know what you're sayin that the bike is fast, but throw that motor in a quad frame that is a lot heavier, and I don't think it will keep up with a 400 in top end. My 330 will keep up with one. My best advice is to sell the 300 in th efall, save all winter, and buy a 450R. That is what I am doing.

Theres actually a kid that races in kentucky with a 400ex/yz250f hybrid. That thing is damn fast and pulls the holeshot every race. I wouldnt have no problems putting the crf250f motor on there since I have a 05 and the bike runs great. I personally like the crf motor since its a unicam and much smaller and probably lighter than the yzf. Also im not sure but i thought that on the yfz the oil ran through the frame, how would that work out? These 250f bikes are alot faster than everyone thinks they are and really rev quick. I would say go for it and run the crf.

A crf250 is a modern 2-stroke dirt bike engine. You'll get a lot of HP out of it. Stock to stock the crf250 motor will have almost as much HP as a stock xr650r. Not as much torque though.

CRF250 motor will blow away a trx250r motor.

I hope you have a lot of money cause those engines arent cheap. I would love to have one but i'd have to part out most my quad to get just the engine.

I bet a stock crf250 would run with a fairly stock 450r now that im thinking about it because ive waxed dvx400s before on mine.
