So on march 25th i took my 250r into lakes motorsports. I had a new hot rods crank installed, new counterbalancer, piston rings, also he said the oil drain plug was only holding on by a few threads so i had him repair it and install a new plug. I thought nothing of it and never checked to see if the oil drain bolt was tight.

This last weekend was the first time i had ever took the quad out since it was rebuilt. I broke it in a good 10 hours. At the end of sunday it started makeing an odd noise from the lower end so i just loaded it up and waited untill today to check it out. The first thing i did was check the oil. Well as i started to add new oil it came right out the bottom. The drain plug he installed fell out for some reason. Now i haven't tried to fill it back up and run it because i wanted to talk to them first and there not open yet.

Anyways what damage do you guys think may have been done and what do you think i should do? I have i feeling he's going to say it's been too long and he wasn't at fault.

All sorts of damage could have occured, Friction is a horrible thing.

If i were you i would not touch it at all, you should not even have put in oil..

take it back to them and tell them what happened, im sure they have warantee on their work.

well i put some oil in but it went straight out the bottom since theres not a drain plug. I'm just sitting here pissed off waiting for them to open.

how long did u run it when it was making the noise? there was just a post like this about 2 weeks ago. basically all the bearings and seals and all that good stuff should be replaced.

yeah, they said too fill it up with oil and it should be fine. but if not he said i'm at fault due to the fact that i installed the motor and should have checked it. he said that if he installed the motor it would be a diffrent story. BULLSH*t

when you got the motor did you have to put oil in it? if so then it kinda is your fault since you should have checked the plug when you filled it up. :ermm: :ermm:

If your lucky, maybe only scorched the clutches, worst case would be the tranny bearings. If you are going to try it as is,I would try to flush the crankcase with some cheaper oil a few times before I filled it and tried it out.
