View Full Version : E-series pipe on a 400

I have a e-series pipe on my 400. Yes i want to make it quiter white brothers said to take out 6 discs it came with 12. Has anybody done this and does it make a difference. I know the discs are easy to take out what i want to do is to change it back and forth. Thanks

I tried it awhile back. It was quieter at idle but didn't seem much quieter on the throttle. My "test" wasn't very accurate though, I just reved it in the driveway to see how it sounded.
One of these days I will get together with a friend who has a similar set up and do a side by side riding comparison.
There is also a Quiet Core available which is supposed to get it within "legal" range. They run about $35.

If you don't mind my asking, what jet setup are you using on your carb? Did you adjust the pilot screw below the carb? Did you change the pilot jet? I have the same setup as you but I can't seem to get the jetting right.

If you take out 6 discs won't that mess with your backpressure?

Current set up:
W/B E-Seris Slip-on
K&N filter w\outerwares
152 main jet
38 pilot jet (will change to 40 Saturday):D Starting is not so easy rght now.
Needle jet jet: Don't know. Will check Saturday:D
Pilot screw: 2 1/2 turns out at the moment:D Will be adjusted as needed.
