Anyone else notice the stock 450r hubs dont like to stay tight, I mean the wheels dont stay tight on them.

I've put them to 30 ft pounds of torque is that proper? or should I put locktight on them now ?

You should have about 108 ft/lb on them 30 is not tight enough.

I pound mine on with our air impact gun and cover the threads in red lock tight on my lonestar axle and they still come loose

My problem is that the wheel came loose, I know the hub needs atleast 100ft/lb, butits got a cotter pin so if installed right it wont loosen as my wheels have done multiple times on my 04 450r.

this never happened on any of my 3 wheelers or my 400ex. That is why I posted this topic. I seen a readup that a race team has had the same thing happen.

this being the 3rd time this happened this time it screwed up the threads on my wheel studs.

i can't stand my wheels coming loose. after every single moto, mine are loose and i have to torque them back down and put another cotter pin in. i got hipers now, i've heard the same problems exists but it hasn't happened yet.

I hope there is a fix since I cant afford to by new studs everytime I ride, thats if I can change just them

I was jumping pretty hard but geeze I never seen my EX's rim's come loose from the hub, no matter how hard I rode, or how hight & far I jumped

oops I didn't understand you're post my wheels stay tight to the hub maybe take the hubs and try to press the studs in more they could possibly not be in all the ways and are pulling through more as you ride? that's just and idea i could be way off. I always thought the 450 and 400ex had the same hubs on them but if there is a differance in the hubs i'm sure the splines where the mount on the axles are the same any you could get some cheap 400EX stock hubs off ebay to solve the problem mine always stay tight so i really don't know what i'm talking about and those are ideas off the top of my head that may help

I have hipers and turn the nut backwards and mine seem to stay on pretty good...

I could be wrong but I thought the 400ex one's are a bit narrower. They will make the quad 1 inch narrower in the back with 400ex hubs I tried mine on it.

that could be true but I think that 250R hubs may fit the the spline and i'm pretty sure that they may be wideri guess you could always look into after market hubs but man are they ever expensive

the 400ex and 450R hubs are the same dimension. Off set, splines, bolt pattern etc.

the 250R splines are different as is the offset as well.

For you wheels make sure you have a good flang nut or sold washers behind your nut, to provide some good surface area to support everything.

I have problems with my hubs. about every 15-20 laps, I have to retighten. Its riddiculous.

I have a hek of a time lining up the pins too.

I can only assume that the metal be it the hubs or the spacers is slowly compressing becuase every time I tighten them I get a quarter turn out of them. So thats all I can figure. either way I HATE IT!
