Has anyone done this? Is the heat shield made of aluminum or steel? If it's aluminum, I thought about polishing mine. But if it's steel, I think that chroming it would be cool. Does anyone have pictures of theirs?? Thanks :D

Sparkles, you polished that?
I tried to polish mine and got no results. How did you do it?
Im not going to pay to have mine chromed, its not that big a deal.
And a tip for you, if you put netting in your nerf bars the work
alot better :blah

So, how did you get that thing all polished up?? What did you use to strip the paint?

I need a new one of those. Mine got taken off since I put my White Bros exhaust on. Where can you get one (I don't want to get one from the dealership):D

Its such a small part that you could strip the paint by hand sanding it in no time. If your a little lazy you could use anyone of the little electric sanders that the home centers have. Just remember that if your going to be polishing it dont use any rougher sandpaper than you need to as you are going to be sanding out all the scratches later.

I dont think it could be much to chrome it either.

Don't they have a liquid that removes the paint? I think they do , that would be the best way.

Its the stock header.
He used some kind of dremel to polish it.
He drove it for 10 mins and it turned to a blue/shinny copper color , it looks pretty cool though.

Yes it is, as far as how much cooler it makes the oil I don't know because I didn't have my warp drive dipstick/temp gauge on before I put in the FST cooler. Yesterday I went on a ride with some friends and it was running at 250 degree's and it was almost 90 outside yesterday.
And yes you do have to tap the motor, I will post some pic's..

For the heat shield I had to use paint remover and a real fine piece of sand paper. And the stock side covers will polish out real nice with some paint remover let soak for about 30 minutes, and the use a fine piece of steal wool. And then polish them up
