Better fuel economy???

My quad seems to eat up gas like a friggen SUV! Is there any way to get better fuel economy while i'm riding? Are there any tricks or secrets to go further on one tank of gas without going 1 mile and hour:rolleyes:.

I dont know how far you are going on one tank. Either there is something major wrong with your jetting or you just cant afford the responsability of a quad. From your sig. you have a 250ex. You would be much happier with the economy of a huffy.

a stock 250ex gets great fuel economy i duno what your talking about:ermm: i agree with you TM

only way to get better fuel economy is to not hold it wide open all the time, and it wont suck as much gas.

do you wheelie a lot and put it on the grab bar? if so you will lose a lot of fuel doing that. I dont know about you but my 400 last at least two full riding days and i even do wheelies and i know some of it falls out the over flow. so it might be your quad or you're too picky :confused:

sparatic jabbs of the throttle eat gas pretty bad too. take off your carb and jab the gas, it shoots quite a bit of fuel!

sounds like something is wrong with you quad....did u ever think about how far your went ridng?...haha...but sounds like something is defiantly wrong or you just picky

I have a big tank on my 250, I never have to put gas in that thing. I normally only put gas in once every two months or so.

How long has it been since you cleaned the air filter and I mean clean it, not just brushed it off. A dirty one will cause poor fuel mileage. Have you changed anything that has to do with the engine? Let us know.

I just cleaned my airfilter like 4 days ago and i have to change my oil again but i have to go fast to keep up with my friends so that could be the problem too. 250xridamatt you must not ride alot if you only have to put gas in your quad every two months or so,otherwise you have a huge *** tank on ur quad!:eek2:

You must do alot of long WOT riding. I could ride a 250ex like all day on the trails on one tank of gas.
Now on the other hand, I went riding one day on the 400ex and we rode down the highway going to a place to ride. About 3- miles mostly WOT. It slurped the fool out of some gas, about a quart just on that short run.

Just riding a couple days a week, for maybe 20 minutes a day. Then going to tracks on the weekends every now and then. I know my quad barely uses gas at all though.
