I have an HMF and love it also, seems to be most popular pipe on this site for us 400exer's

I had the TC slip-on, then got the HMF full. There was quite a difference from mid-top with the HMF. The TC is a MX pipe and is from bottom-mid. It's good, but really way to loud for anything but the track. I would go HMF.

i would have to agree,i actually bought his old Tc pipe, and although i love it,it is truly too loud,to the point where i sometimes get annoyed, but if your looking for low end to mid end rippage and sound isnt a problem TC all the way bro, otherwise HMF

well how do u think my quad with the tc slip on would do against those quads in that lenght race

JDiablo

wat other mods do you have on your quad?i would say you will pull away from a couple, and then maybe in the higher gears the Z and maybe the ex with the yoshi will inch past you,but at the line you should pull ahead if your good with the clutch and know how to put that pipe to use

nothin but i plan on gettin an air filter...and eventually a 416 kit

JDiablo

depends if you go with a hotcams stage two,i would say HMF,otherwise TC,either way both pipes will help you rip,but i dont see why mid-top end power is what you want....you aren't going to be going 5th gear on trails are you?and for MX you arent going to be staying wide open the whole time,so from what you are telling me,i would say TC,although if sound is a problem then DEFEINTLY the HMF with quiet core

also do i have to rejet with the tc and would it be hard to swithc from the tc slip on back to the stock muffler if i want to go riding at night in the snow on the roadss

JDiablo

you wont be able to,you have to cut down your stock headpipe...say about 4-5 inches so you wont be able to do that

i have another stock header...

JDiablo
05-30-2005, 09:20 PM
ye it shouldnt be that hard, but on mine is was sucha pain in the *** man,i have a oversized oil tank, and i couldnt get the stupid header on there without dropping the oil tank and even moving the oil cooler, but if you have a stock size tank you should be just dandy, all you have to do is take the four headpipe bolts out,and the two in the back and install your stock system if you want to go riding in the snow

but do i have to rejet with the tc slip on...and is it hard to rejet the 400ex...i only did it on the blaster

idk to tell you the truth, when i bought my quad it was jetting already i cant even tell you waht main jet or what not is in there, but it runs perfect now,a nice light tan/crisp color on my plug so i must be right on with jetting, but jetting isnt hard just take your time and if you have problems make a thread on here,im sure someone will talk you through it

P.S....if you go with a TC try and find a used ones, the new ones are very expensive...almost the same as a full system HMF:eek2:

Call TC, he will get you hooked up with the jetting. I'm pretty sure I ran a 152 main, with stock pilot, needle on 3rd clip, and idle screw 3-1/2 turns out I believe.

Dave400ex
05-30-2005, 09:43 PM
I have no idea what the elevation is here. When I bought it, it was $319 plus shipping.

JDiablo
05-30-2005, 09:44 PM
ahh nevermind what i said about it almost being the same price as a HMF full system,i think for that kind of money, you should buy the HMF slip on,get yourself some jets, and a airfilter as well:devil:
