View Full Version : Clean MX 400ex For sale 9k invested.

IM trying to build a YFZ450 from the ground up. So im going to sell the 400ex and try to. I would like to get 4,000 out of it but there is way more in it. 5700 when the bike was bought new in 1999 and another 9,000 in aftermarket. The motor is just broken in, just switched to Honda Full synthetic. All mods are listed in My Profile. Has many many many new parts. Has all new cables and bearings, bushings, everything reaplced. All pc is from this winter and so is the motor. Very nice bike, nothing overlooked.

most of these are from last year. Only 3 races on the new parts from the rebuild. Havent really rode it except when i broke it in on a field.

didnt you get this bike for dirt cheap backl ion the day..i remeber i was looking at ur blaster 2 but then decided i didnt want it.

yea im pretty sure u bought this bike for like 3500 this year and uve put bars, beadlocks, tires and a stem since u had it...and u already had the beads and tires from ur old bike

Yeah, after i bought it i machined the frame out wher the old threads were and put titanium rod with nuts holding the foot pegs-nerfs on each end. I put 1 1.8" fat bars and antivibe clamps, dirt bike starter, number plate bracket, the bumper, and fixed the nerf bars ( neeeded welded) Im gonna need more then 2500....somewhere around 4,000. I also put new clutch cable and throttle cable on,painted and polished a lot of stuff, put the beadlocks and tires on it. Just went over the bike and fixed a lot of stuff.

I will take 3800 which is the lowest probably i will go. If i cant sell it ill part it out. And 250x rider....im sorry man im so busy i just keep putting it off. I swear on my TCS shocks ill get the pics lol

where in the hell was the stuff for that bike bought to tally up to 9 thousand dollars? there is in NO WAY 9000 bux in that bike.. MAYBE 3000, and thats including the maintenance stuff you SHOULD do and NOT count as "investing"

Maybe you should lower your price to better suit the bike.. its a 99, its 6 years old, its had a rough life.. 4000 bux for that bike is like asking 100 bux for the turd i just pooped out.. it aint gonna happen..

Guess thats what people think there stuff is worth when they have a "everyone else" item.

9k is every single piece of equipment on the quad if it was bought brand spankin new MSRP.

And it has 3000 alone in a-arms, front shocks,rear shock, PC and fenders

That is a good price for it. You might want to lower it to $3500 if you don't sell it soon.

And the suspension and a-arms alone are about $3000 Dirt Merchant. Get your facts straight

Bump for a nice 400. If you would take $3,500 thatd be a great price for that bike. Dirt Merchant sounds like a moron. But anyways Yea that front end is $3,000 ALONE! And with all the other stuff, Its a nice bike. Iv seen stock 400`s going for that.

*** are u ppl talkin about that front end is NOT 3000 bux the best long travel set ups are around that price and even less....i dunno where ur gettin 3000 for +2 lsr 250r a-arms and tcs front shocks....

dont get me wrong yamablaster24 its a very nice bike but theres no way that front end is 3000....if u decide to part out i may be interested in some stuff

Matt your an idiot your bike is a POS. I knew the kid that you bought it from and he basically "raped" this thing. I wouldnt buy that thing for 2k just because i know what its been through, that you dont even know of. If anyone seriously buys that thing PERIOD, good luck with that............... Oh ya 9k invested my @ss all you put on it was a starter swith and that crap bumper that you made out of scap tubing(the previous owned did the full rebuild not Matt). And please explain that titanium bolt thing that you have holding your footpegs on. I wouldnt trust that set-up at all just cause you engineered it.

I knew john and i was at the only race he raced it at. He rode it maybe 2x with all the new parts....but i dono he must of set it on jackstands at his house and duct taped the throttle down in 1st gear and held it there for 2 hours the day before i bought it.....sounds like you have a grudge against me so lets take care of this in PM's. **** man your talking out of your ***...yeah my bike is only worth 2,000 ok hardass. God you kids get me so pissed off. I will take 3700 but thats it. Any cheaper and i keep the thing. Because the bike is as solid as a rock. No bends, stress marks, cracks, or anything, all bolts have threads, everything on the bike is straight. And my foot pegs were not being held in tightly because you cant torque the bolts holding them in, and they will still flex and eventually weaken or worse:crack the frame where the foot pegs bolts go into. So i had the hole drillled out to get rid of threads then ran a 14" or something lose to that Ti bolt through the frame that is made for commercial construction equipment and put two nuts on each end holding in the foot pegs on each side. so if force is exerted on one side of the peg it pulls the other one in.

the a-arms new are 750 something. The front shocks are also 750 something. the rear shock is 450. I never said they added up to 3,000, i said with the fenders, bar setup and stuff it was worth 3,000.

this thread cracks me up.. btw, you do realize that a titanium peice of all thread is accually weaker than grade 8 stainless? I guess you already knew that tho..

When you list a bike that you claim that has 9g's invested in it.. 99.999999% of all the people think, YOU have put 9000 dollars into the bike, which obviously you havent.. Your signature says 8 grand invested... hrmm.. which is it 8 or 9 grand? you cant even keep your facts straight..

On another note.. if you got 2500 for it, id be shocked.. but to each there own i suppose..

I most definitely agree with you. And about him changing it form 8k invested to 9k, in another thread he claimed 10k. Get your facts stait indeed. Matt didnt invest any of that "supposed" 9k anyway. all he did was add up all the MSRP's of all the used parts that were put on it. Your a joke Matt! lol

ok w/e dude. Ill part it out and make 4500 guarenteed. I parted my blaster ou and made 3500 ina month, i already added everything up its just im not desperate to it because its such a nice bike.

no its beat and people here still cant beleive some one was dumb enough to buy it from john and especialy for what you paid for it. He rode that thing to the ground and then bought some new fenders and had his friend PC some stuff to make it look alright so some one stupid would buy it. Beleive us its beat and should be buried..........thats all its good for anymore, and anyways are those even LSR a arms or did he buy new ones after he crashed it so many times and bent the **** out of them?

Transmission shifts identical to my 2002 with 10 hours on it. Motor is sound and bottom end is solid. I realize it is 6 years old and the bottom end is stock and that its not a 450 or 440 its a 397cc. If i cant get anyone to buy it for 3500 then im parting out. I just talked to the guy with my YFZ parts and i need the money. So im gonna start to get desperate.

all the words you guys are saying abnout how its a POS, rode to the ground by previous owner, not worth 2 cents...all this stuff....it effects me in no way. Nobody knows what the current condition the bike is in but me. I know just about everything john did to the bike because he told me...and i still bought it :rolleyes:

damn it sounds like you guys have some issues. i think you should quit knockin this guy for trying to sell this thing and quit worrying about what YOU think is wrong with HIS quad, if someone is gonna buy it im sure there gonna look it over before they fork over the cash and see whats wrong with it. and if they dont then i hope it is **** cause thats just dumb and they deserve to get screwed

Hey guys i see most stock 400ex sell for no less than 2200 and they even have some mods, Where do u come off getting this thing is worht 2500? IM not understanding, ive riddin this thing and its the most modded quad n best suspenion and smoothest thing ive ever ridden, the only mods it dont have is swingarm and stem. 2500 you guys are on crack. All of you are mad cuz when i comes time to race none of you would be near him.

Racing is about skill not equipment. My friend races a stock 450r other than a lrd slip on and tires, and he beats moded 450's and 400's just like this, so while i agree with you on the price its mostly rider not machine that wins a race.

and another question. you guys keep saying it not worth **** cause its a 99 but i dont know how it is where you guys live but around here people are still trying to get between 3500 and 4500 for there 86-89 250r's and im no genius but i think 6 years old is a little newer than 19 years old. just a thought:chinese:
