Whats up with that lip in there Chad? That looks like it could use some more machining to smooth that part out no?

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh cool.

How pumped are you to get that baby on there??!

Matt and i are going to get together for an entire day soon and swap a bunch of cams i have. I have a question for you...

Do you remove the engine plug on the right side of the motor (clutch side) to get to the crank end to use the degree wheel on?

I was talking with Matt and he said you didnt deal with any motor oil when degreeing in your cam on the dyno. I was right next to my quad and i thought hmmm. I looked at the right side of the motor and noticed that engine plug that looks to me like its right inline with the crank. I never gave that a thought. Thats it no? If so i feel retarded for messin with the clutch cover that whole time if it is!! I hated dealing with the motor oil every time.

yea, the oil is a mess when you get to degree'n in your setup. I indexed the adjustable cam sprocket with 4-6 degree marks so i could adjust on the dyno without a degree wheel. in other words, i marked the cam sprocket at home with a dremel at 12, 18, 22 degrees retarded timing.

your thought on the right side is interesting to me after you locate TDC you could fit an adapter over the crank bolt. I dont know though cause not all the bolt is exposed on that peep hole, ya know?

Nice idea Chad ;)

Yeah that right side plug might have hope but like you say, it may not be an easy task. I am going to look into it today because i cant see taking that cover off all day long with 4 different cams. If i have to fine, but im going to exhaust every other means of getting around that.

TDC is easy to find i feel. I dont even look at the flywheel marks. As long as the intake lobes are pointing on say a 45 degree angle towards the back of the bike i know im on the right stroke. I then with my hands find within 2-3 degrees of TDC and set the wheel up. Then i plug it and get it precise.

yes, i get it back next tues or wedn. I'll post pics when i get it back. my machinist lives 20 minutes away, it's just he had a few motors to takes care of and wanted to take his time taper boring the body and center ring. most ppl dont bore the center ring that the slide slides over.

re-located hot start on crf clutch lever. Cernics FCR kit includes crf 90 degree hot start cable too.

notice the modified panel bar switch's with removed hot start lever mounted underneath kill switch removed. 450R owners should notice "HOT START" under the kill switch no longer there! ;)

to the right is the Dynatek curve selector switch i hadn't mounted yet.

this is a shot of the stock throttle cable that fits perfectly into the FCR- no trouble.

standing on the left side of the quad, i point to the crf hot start cable with integrated 90 degree bend. makes for a perfect install.

last shot,...

finished look. I have to say once again that this kit provided by cernics was perfect. the only thing that i had to get was new jets (expected), clutch cable adjustment from stock 450r perch to fit into new crf perch, and taper bored for my stroker (also expected). My point is very very clean install.

Thumbs up cernics!

I am curious to see how it works, Packard is a big fan, and who am I to say anything different then him?
Yours looks very nice, your machinist knows what he is doing.

Hey Kam! the open picture you posted looks kewl. i noticed the bigger intake boot. Oh BTW: notice the tilt on the lectrons needle in reference to your port vein?

I will have to look closer at that, I could not see what I was taking a picture of, since I had to open the throttle.
I will know how she works v. a stocker, and a FCR 40 my next week! I week in Idaho's big bowls and hills!
The DS650 intake boot works KILLER with the Lectron, its PERFECT. When I showed it to D Packard, he was very impressed with that intake. He siad it might be a hair long, but perfect for the carb other than that.
