New Tire Skewered

first day on the trail with new tires.

moving along pretty good and then i see a tree on the trail directly in front of me, pointing directly at me. i have no time to move.

brand new tire with a tree skewered right through it.

anyway, the gash is about 2.5 inches right on the tread. has anybody had any luck patching anything this bad? i don't want to toss the tire yet.

What type of tire was it? You might be able to patch it, do you have a pic of it?

it is a Maxxis Razr 4 ply...ill get a pic up soon. what kind of patch??

since there so new u could jus order 1 new tire and that way you wouldnt have no worries about it going flat while your out riding on the trail with a patch.

Sucks but thats all part of riding. Why didn't you buy 6 ply? Might of help a little? My 6 plys are going on about 4 years with only 1 patch from a huge nail.

ya, i think im just gonna suck it up and get a new one. since one is a 4 ply, if i have a 6 ply on the other side, will there be much difference in performance??

1 will wear faster then the other so 1 will have more tread then the other after a while
