Cam?

is there any way to tell if a cam is a hot cam. i got the one out of my engine and the guy i bought it from said it had a hot cam stg 2
it looks like something is ground oud near the end of the cam it looks like a hcs2 or something close

im pretty sure mine just said hotcam on it near the cam sprocket.

yea they should say hotcam on them. My buddy's is stamped right onto the cam shaft itself and i think it says it in 2 different spots

what if it was a web cam is there any way to tell

web cams are painted kinda gray when you get them if it says hcs2 i would say it is a hotcam.

its nto a hot cam cause it isnt stamped liek all othere hot cams and its not a stock cam cause it doesnt have the decompressor.
i was going to replace it with a hot cam stg 1 but if it is a better cam im just going to leave it in there. but its just reashuring to know what kind of cam it is

o, what kind of gray is a web cam painted casue i have nothing to compare it to as i have not seen a stock or hot cam in person

Does it have any markings on the cam anywhere. The hotcam will have a tear drop shaped with some letters in it in the middle of the cam. No matter what aftermarket cam it is it should have some letters or numbers on it somewhere.

Then it should have some numbers and letters on the end of it, mine is a stage one and it says 7eht on it. There are different numbers for the splined cams and the newer style ones. You can call hotcams and they will tell you what the cam is if you find the other numbers.
