Engine lock up

My buddies 450r locked up a couple of days ago and when we got it apart it seems the bearings on the crank went out and the piston rod destoryed part of his case. He just had a hotcam installed a month earlier by a honda shop. We are trying to find the best options because he no longer has a warranty. I have been reading that a few people have been having this problem and some even got covered after warranty was expired is this true?. Do yall have any suggestions.

Did Honda stall that part and how long has he had it? From what I hear Honda has fixed most all situations of this. And if your dealer wont do it call service honda.

Just have him talk with the dealer, if they're nice they'll help him out. Honda made the switch to another bearing company supposedly in some of the '05's and they couldn't hold up to the stress. So far our shop hasn't had anything come back, but if the dealer won't help, call Honda's customer relations, they should help you out (310) 783-3700
