go with K&N. I had that on my 300ex with a Outerwears cover on it. WORKS GREAT!

It really al depends upon how your motor is set-up and what conditions you ride. For my motor and the conditions I ride in only a uni will do.
Just my 10 pennies...Cuz my ***** dont stink j/k;)

If you are going to Run with a Lid on you might as well keep it Stock. TC told me I was not gaining any Power with my K&N because I run with a Lid. He said if you take the Lid off you get the Gain from the K&N over Stock, but I don`t want crap in my Engine.

I was pretty sure that a Uni and a K&N with an outerwear flowed about the same. One catch is that if you run the K&N, you want to make sure you run the outerwear for a prefilter to catch the small stuff.

That comment about the K&N by TC has me curious. It's supposed to be pretty wet this weekend, so maybe I'll have to try the 300 without a lid once and see if I notice a difference...

If you Run without a Lid you will need to ReJet. Tom explained all of the Jetting to me and said that about the Filters. He told me that if I would have just put the K&N on and leave the Lid on I would not have to ReJet, but if I take the Lid off I would have to because it would be getting a lot more Air. He told me unless you run without a Lid he would keep the Stock Filter.

SO, running the stock air filter WITH a lid, do you still need the outerwear cover? I've been riding about 10 times at the dunes, with little or no sand in the box when I check after each ride (Maybe it's all in the engine, or maybe I'm not riding hard enought to get sand in there :) )

IF I put an outerwear cover over the stock foam filter, I assume the foam still needs to be oiled!? Wouldn't that get the outerwear oily?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to piece this all together!

IMO you would want to clean and oil the outerwear each time you clean the filter itself. The outerwear is designed to catch the stuff your filter may not...or just for extra insurance:)

I had to jet up when I swapped out my uni for a K&N. The K&N definitely flows more air for my setup.

Yes the Stock Filter with a Lid. I have never heard of running a Outerwear on the Stock Filter, but it would give it some extra protection. I Oil my K&N and then just put my Outerwear on. I don`t think you are suppose to Oil the Outerwear. It is made to go over the Filter. When ever I clean my Filter I just throw my Outerwear in a bucket of Soap to clean it. The K&N flows a lot more Air.

I just spray the same stuff on the Outerwear that I spray on the filter to clean it and it works good!!
