z400 quad troubles!!!

My bro just put his z400 engine back together with the 440 kit in it and had his frame painted during the winter and all, and now wen he started the quad he had to stop it to check the oil and the oil wasn't even flowing through the engine. And now I kinda feel sorry 4 my big bro bc he just wants to ride extremely bad. But now my bro is all P***ed off bc he just can't get anything to run properly without having something else go wrong. Do you know why the oil wouldn't be going through the engine. Waht could be wrong. I don't want his just rebuilt engine to FRY :eek2:

how can u tell if its goin thru the engine.
i think maybe he put the oil filter in backwards

take the clucth side of the case off and check behind the clutch toward the front of the motor is a plastic gear about 2" round that is the oil pump gear that will cause the motor to not pump ANY oil to the head...... this is why my motor is now a 450 instead of the 460 it was, I had to buy an entire head and cylinder
