View Full Version : 400ex axle in 250r swinger?

Will that work? I have an issue. I purchased a Z400 axle for my Z400 but decided to build an R, so I shipped my axle back to Rocky Mountain and was going to trade it for a 250R axle (this is a 2+2 G-Force Axle). Anyway, they don't carry the 250R axle, but they do have the 400ex...so will that work? Let me know as soon as possible. Will there be any modifications that will need to be done?

Ok...I found that info on here! But I have a second question, I just ordered the 400ex axle because it does fit, but do I need to get a 400ex carrier or a 250r carrier?

you will need 400ex hubs. everything else is 250r

Mike,check to make sure that the carrier you need for the axle will work in that 85 carrier you are looking at.

Thanx man, just looked it up and it appears that it fits any 250R carrier and the axle fits in the 250R carrier...you had me worried...lol

Mike,I may be wrong(wont be the 1st time),but Im thinking there is something different about the carriers for the 85 swingarm,like it is smaller.I think the 85 carrier is by itself.You need to know if the 86-89 axle will fit the 85 carrier.Not trying to be a dick,but I know your starting from scratch and dont wont to see you run into a bunch of crap down the road trying to make stuff work.

What swinger you end up with?I saw that you were looking at the chrome PC'ed one over at R central.I was thinking you got it.It is from an 85 and would have had to use the 85 carrier.

No, that one sold...he had a different one. Haven't gotten one yet...still looking but the other one he has is from a 88, I think.
