Help me! stripped bolt

I stripped the hell out of the 8mm bolt on the cam tentioner. Its the bottom one thats hard to get to. I stripped it so bad that it is almost round! I dont know what i was thinking but anyways. I though about just tapping it out but i dont think there is enough room to drill the hole in the first place. I need help. thanks

See if you can hammer a little smaller socket on it and then turn it. Or go get some of them ez outs.

what about using an easy out?

That's a 6mm dia. bolt. A 1/4" fine thread is just a little larger. You could try tapping it to that size and then getting the correct length to fit. Just an idea. Looks like there is enough room for a heli-coil too if you don't mind the extra work to get at it.

yea get it out and put a heli coil in there. ive had to do it

if it isnt completely roud..get the next size down socket..bang it on there..and take it out

whata a hili coil and the next size down would work exept that there isnt enough room to swing the hammer.

I may be wrong but looks like people are talking about 2 different things ( a stripped bolt hole and a stripped bolt head ). Easy-out is like a tap or drill bit with reverse threads, you drill a hole in your bolt and hammer the easy-out into the hole or some people twist them in with a wrench, then back the bolt out with it. But if you already have the bolt out you don't need the easy-out. Either tap out larger or tap and helicoil. Either will be hard to do with the jug still being on the motor.

Well. Stripped bolts. Go to your local hardware store. Craftsman, makes a special type of socket. That WILL work with stripped bolts. It worked for me, it took out my stripped bolt for my tire nuts. It's incredible. I was amazed. It's in a Orange box.
