I've heard it makes a pretty big difference. I've heard this from people who have dirtbikes and have gotten V-Force reeds, so I suspect they must be worth it.

yes reeds help, while most may not be as noticeable as a pipe, some are better than others.it just depends on the model.i have heard good things from the v force but i personally have used the Boyeson rad valve on 2 different bikes with success. If your thinking about reeds themselves then the aktive reeds are a hot setup along with the Boyeson carbon fiber reeds.worn reeds will cause harder starting and popping at higher rpm.:)

Yeah, reeds make a big difference. Your powerband will change based on the tension of the reeds. Looser reeds will open easier at lower RPM, giving you better bottom end, while tighter reeds will will be more accurate when opening and closing at higher RPM, giving better top end. Some companies try to address that tradeoff by having a reed cage that uses two different tensions of reeds. If I remember right, my Boysen Rad Valve had full size low tension reeds, with half length high tension reeds on top of them. The half length reeds were supposed to act like a helper spring so that the low tension reeds didn't flutter at high speed. It made a big difference on my KX250.

Most outboard boat motors are 2-stroke. The main difference between a 200hp outboard and a 150hp outboard is the reeds. Both are 6-cylinders.

Granted, this isn't exactly related to ATVs, but it DOES show the power and effect that reeds can have.
