How do I adjust the pre-load on my stock 450r shocks? It sits way to high.

There are two large nuts that sit on top of the spring youll need to back the top one off. then mark the nut that sits closes to the spring so that you turn the springs the same amount you can also measure the length of the spring. i would suggest putting the bike on a stand because with no weight on the front end it turns easier. once u turn the nut that sits on top of the spring upward to you desired ride height make sure to lock the top nut back down on the bottom one. depending on how much you take out the bike will get softer and the rebound will slow up so just watch this on your first ride after this adjustment.

I found that running the preload ring all the way to the top was best and not too soft for desert racing and XC.
