I know i should do a search first but i didnt think of that. Maybe one of you can simplify it a little. Doesnt look hard at all but i just dont want to do more work than i have to.

on the end of your swing arm there should be 4 bolts losen those then on the side of that next your either your rotor or your sprocket thyere like this aluminum piece with slots in it and you take liek a monkey wrench or something and twist it back and your chain will become tighter.

Thanks! VERY helpful......thats how i thought it was done but those four bolts on the bottom are by the axle bearing carrier andi didnt want to mess with those if it would cause any more work.

What do you guys use to pry on the "slots" that rotate downward to tighten the chain? It seems like whatever I try (prybar, wrench, etc...) ends up scraping a little bit of metal out each time. I am worried that, after too many tightenings, teh slot will become scraped away and useless. Thanks.

ah. I should get a tool kit. That should work a little better than using the handle on a pair of channel locks. Thanks.

If you use an extension for a socket (I believe a 1/4 in), I think itll fit right in. It did on my 250r, but I can't remember if it does on my 426. A big flathead screw driver works fine...so does the allen wrench...but I believe the correct tool made for stuff like this is a spanner wrench...but its not nessacery.

If you have a quad, and not a decent tool set, you're going to have BIG problems

i all ways stick a screwdriver in by the sprocket and just roll the bike until the chain is tight

Ok, first of all don't pry! Make sure your allen bolts are really, really, loose. The place the 1/4 extension in the slot and pull the bike backward. The sprocket will pull against the extension and turn the adjustment cam. I think you pull it back for tightening and push it forward for loosening.;)
