Spark Arrestor question

Okay guys I have tried a search and did not find what I was looking for.

I am going to Black RIver Falls this weekend. I know a spark arrestor is required.

I bought my EX with the pipe on it without the spark arrestor.

I am leaving Thursday morning and if I order it there is a good chance I won't get it in time.

Can I go to the hardware store and get a screen and cut it to the size I need? Will that work?
