Can someone tell me how to go about checking a vin# from a ATV to see if it has ever been reported stolen. I am thinking of buying a 450R from someone for a price that is too good to be true. I would like to check on it before I buy it if that is possible.

Thanks

well........then it probably is too good to be true. I'd try your local police station and bring the number BEFORE you have possesion of the bike.

Yep, if you have a friend that is a cop, then get him/her to run the numbers for you.

make sure he has the title..if not title THEN STAY AWAY. I ahd to let go of a deal when the 450's first came out. a guy was selling it for $4000 which was a really good price and we were talking and I asked him if he had title and he said "no" so I said I could'nt buy it without title and he said the dealership in kentucky never gave him one when he paid cash for it right there and I told him I coud'nt buy it w/o the title

How does Honda know if it's been reported stolen?

I know that bike dealerships have to be able to research vin#'s when they take trades. I will try it.
