Do you not see the Elkas? Do you not get that a brand-new stocker goes for about 4500-5000 still? I dunno what kinda a-arms those are, but they sure as hell aint stock.

Motor work or no motor work, the bike is worth way more than 4000, ok? its an 04 for cryin out loud.

Elkas (fronts)-- possibly from 800-1200.

Rear Shock (dont know what it is, not stock though?)---?

Handle bars-- 90

Nerf bars-- 250

A-arms-- dont know which brand but at least 500 Id guess

Pipe (if its full) 300-500

Dont know if axle is stock, guessing its not-- 350-450 if LSR or RPM

So Ill take a wild guess and estimate $2500 worth, give or take a couple hundred in mods. And thats assuming NO engine work. This is on a bike that costs close to 5000 new. So to say its not worth more than 4000 (if in perfect shape) is just showing your own ignorance.

You made a couple good points. But 400ex's have lost almost all value thanks to the 450r. With more detail of the mods, i could tell you how much it would actually be worth.

It is a nice bike, but if someone if looking for a bike, you can get a used 450r for 4,000-4,500

Well, sure it has, but have you noted their prices elsewhere besides this site? Around here (and this is a piss-poor area) the 400ex's generally sell for 2500-3500 (99-2003 or so). Newer than that command closer to 4000 or so and that is stock, or near stock anyway. And the quads still sell quite well. They even sell rather well in the main local dealer, where the price on a new one is about 4900 still.

Guess it all just depends on location. On this site, if you offer a 99-02 EX for anything over 3000, it seems like you get bashed to hell for doing so for some reason, even if the bike is in good shape and has a fair amount of mods.

That is a sweet quad. But you would be wise to take 4k for it. Thats just the way it is. You may have alot invested and 4k seems like an insult but your not gonna sell it for any more than that thanks to the 450r's. I had my 04 mx440ex with alot more work done than this one for sale for 4500 all over the web and local papers. I had to realize that if I wanted it to sell i was going to be realistic and realize that the 400's are just out dated now. I still got 4000 bucks out of it but it had about 3k invested. You can get 450r's around here for 4500-5000 all day with mods. I have been in your shoes man and I wish you luck.

its a shame 400s dont hold there value anymore. before the 450r you could have gotten between 5 and 6 for the bike. 4 grandish seems fair to me

u should just put the stock parts back on and sell all the extras and lower the cost of the quad...if u have the stock parts.

Id definately put 4k down if I had it. I would much rather have that, than a yfz cause I don't like anything that says yamaha on it.

If you are going to post, make it useful. No one cares if you can "smoke" a 450. I have stayed with 450's on my 250x, they were not the best riders, but i dont go around saying im better than everyone because i did, because i know im not.

I have actually gotten a lot of compliments on my 250x. Its my first quad and i love it. I just want to move up to a bigger and better quad now.
