right know i have 22 in tires and 14 38 gearing i ride trails mostly i want to try 18 in tires so what would be some suggestions

i would suggest not getting 18 if you just ride trails. I would get 20's if you do not want the 22's

I don't recommend you 18 inch tire because if you only do trail riding your ground clearance will be less than with 20 inch tire.And your skid plate will alway hit the big rock

o sorry about that i ment to say 20 in not 18 in

14/38 is great for trail riding even with 20" tires. You can go to a 39" in the back without adding any links if you want.

15/38 is stock gearing with 20" rear tires.

with 20" 14/39, im runnin that combo and love it, perfect for tight turns (at slow speeds), hills, and trails. and if you decide to get on it you get up to speed a lot quicker. lose a little bit topend, but get more bottom end.
