Hey people! I need to know some answers to a few questions about the 250ex ( not a 400ex or nething else just the 250ex).
What is the true top speed of the machine? and with alot of mods (i.e pipes k & n air filter ect) what would the top be estimate? OK would the 250 be ok for riding in the moutains and other places? I on a 300 honda 4x4, but want something faster to play on but still go SOME not all the place I used to but majority how would it handle them? Thats the main reason I am not getting a 300ex or a 400ex b/c I do some trail riding and I know the clutch, and the way those machines are set up they just wouldnt handle the situations I get into. I really appreciate all of your responses. Thakz again. Super_Man....:)

I think the top speed stock is between 50 and 55. The top speed wouldnt necessarly be higher with a pipe and jet kit, it would have more torque and low end it might make the top end a little faster but not enough to notice. It would be awesome for trail riding and in the mountains. It will go in quite a few places with ease. People mistake the 250 for not having a whole lot of power, it has more power then people think if they have not rode it, especially with a pipe and jet kit and filter.

true, pipes dont make the power really, they shape it, the cam, filter, yada, yada make it kinda, but on top speed, iv heard from 45-55

We have a 250EX and really like it for trail riding. It is a little underpowered at the Dunes...but we're going to put a pipe on it for a little more low end. You made one comment about a 300EX or 400EX not handling the "situations you get into". As an owner of two 400EXs and a 250EX, I would say that there are VERY FEW, IF ANY, "situations" that a 250EX would handle better than 400EX or 300EX. Even as a BIG fan of the 250EX, I would have to say that the only reasons to get the 250 over one of the other two would be for a young rider just learning...or for budget contraint reasons.

As far as top speed, we measured ours at 53 with me on it (6'2", 215lbs). We measured it with my brother's Sportsman, so I don't know just how accurate it is...but that's in line with what I've heard from other people.
