foam filter- clean ????

I just cleaned my stock foam filter in my 2004 400ex... I used spectro sx cleaner and golden spectro filter oil. The filter oil i used is like blue and when you put it on it kinda dies the foam blue so you can see if you put on an even coat and where you missed... but now that my filter is like kinda blue it is alot harder to tell when it is dirty...? whats a good rule to stand by on cleaning the airfilter-as in how many rides or so to do it, how often... etc

i clean it after every ride... better safe than sorry..on light rides..maybe only wash it with soap and water..and let it air dry

a lot depends on how you ride your bike and the conditions you ride in. i don't do it nearly every ride. most of the time i can't even tell it has anything on it after a few weeks of putting around. i look at the filter and go from there.

every ride for me, heck i cant even run no air box lid :( because when its dry its so dusty and the coal ground around here at pits and tracks....
